Pioneer iPod Interface Help
 

Has anyone used this and installed this on their car? I'm trying to put this in and I don't know where to put the yellow power wire. I tried to put together the power wire from the headunit, the iPod adapter and the wiring harness together and the iPod adapter still does not work (Rest of the headunit still works).

Anybody have any ideas or installed this already. I called Crutchfield and asked them and they said that they *thought* that the three would go together. Help :(

Ok, I tried to set up my headunit without the iPod piece and now it does not turn on at all. Then when I tried to unplug everything, when I turn on the car to stand by, i get a really low sounding blinging noise and the air condition does not show the Temp nor work and shows 3 dashes.

Crutchfield is notoriously bad with Bonnevilles. What's the part number for the harness?

The yellow wire needs to be on an Accessory or switched power. I purchased a 5800MP and the iPod box to test it out and see if i liked the Pioneer iPod interface (i didn't, returned for an ///Alpine setup) but the yellow wire should be able to be run off of the "ACC" lead from your headunit harness. This will turn it on when the key is switched to ACC, or RUN.

Well, the headunit worked fine before I tried to install the iPod piece, so I'm sure nothing is wrong with it.

So you are saying once I get everything working again that I should run that yellow wire to the red wire of the headunit which is: "To electric terminal controlled by ignition switch (12 V DC) ON/OFF)"?

That should work as long as there are enough amps going into it. Maybe you blew a fuse?

First off, the yellow wire goes to constant power, not acc. All IP-Bus devices are switched on/off with a signal though its bus cable. The adapter draws very little power and will operate perfectly fine off of the power/ground wires in the radio harness (which will match colors on your Pioneer radio harness) The iPod adapter will not show up as an external source unless the iPod is physically connected to the dock cable.

As for your other problems after you attempted the install, what wires did you attempt to connect to? If you went any further than the radio harness, you made the install tougher than it needs to be. Where did you hear the described noise coming from?

Well, I got the problem fixed and the sound was the "bing bing bing" that you hear when you put the key in, except it was lower sounding. The fuse for that went and caused the Radio and ECC to also go. Got everything working now though, even the iPod.
