ok i have a 00 and it didn't come with xm in that year. I was woundering if i just found a xm head unit and the xm reciever if that would work. and does anyone know of a place to find a xm reciever

you mean a youre looking for a factory radio with xm or aftermarket?

I think you have three, maybe more options.

Option one: go all aftermarket. Get an aftermarket headunit with an XM tuner.
Option two: get a pontiac radio with XM ($$$$!!!!????)
Option three: get a delphi skifi unit (or similar) that will send the XM signal it receives to your factory head unit via a FM modulator. Probably the simpliest and cheapest.

In my opinion, I would replace the radio with an aftermarket head unit that has XM capabllitiy. Next to that, the Delphi option. I just think finding an OEM radio with XM is going to cost way more than it is worth, but if thats your cup of tea go for it.

I'm looking at putting XM in my 01but I am getting noise in my system from the RF Modulator. Havent found anything to fix the RF problem. Any help out there! :(

If you'd rather have SIRIUS Satellite Radio, you don't need a new headunit at all.

SIRIUS is releasing a SoundGate adapter that uses the factory headunit.

So all you would need is:
Antenna
Separate Tuner
SoundGate Adapter

Of course, each of those items need installed, but you'd still have the factory headunit. ...just another option.

XM has the same deal with a Delphi unit (option 3 on my list)

The Delphi unit is its own XM tuner, display, with remote. It has a cradle that gets affixed to your dash, or whereever you choose to mount it. It comes with either a cassette adapter (if you don't want to get behind your radio for wiring) or the FM modulator (for a "cleaner" look). Sirius has always had the upper hand on the commercial free channels, but it is more expensvie ($12.95 vs XM'* $9.95). Starting February 1, 2004 all of XM'* music channels (not talk, comedy, etc.) will be 100% commercial free and they are adding 20 channels. Right now they are also offering a $30 rebate on the Delphi SkiFi unit. (this is the one that you can use in your car, in your house, etc..)
