My System is Screwed! Help Please
I put in my new 6x9'* today. Here'* the issue. I tried everything out before I put the car back together...and it sounded awesome.
Then...I went to go out for a drive, and the second I gave it a little volume...all the speakers but the front driver'* cut out. The thing is, if I hit loud button on and off....in either position, they all kick back in for like 3 seconds. Then they do the same thing again....cut out. Any ideas?????
I still have everything stock, except the new back speakers.

They aren't anything special...Just JVC 3 way 6x9'*....Do you think they would be capable of doing that?
How could I fix it?? I am pretty audio retarded......well.....car retarded. LOL

That was just a guess, and probably wrong. Stock 6x9'* usually have fairly high resistance, but some off the shelf JVC'* probably won't be lower than 8 ohms. That should still be fine.
Is it possible you grounded out a speaker lead the the frame of the speaker or split the insulation somewhere unintended and it'* shorting?

That'* what I was thinking....maybe I forgot to tape off a wire, or something is touching to metal etc., and shorting out the system. I just don't want to rip the car apart again unless I really have to.

Ok, I went to my local installer guy who'* also a friend. We decided to just re-do everything. **** on the old crap. I am getting a new CD head unit...so bye bye steering wheel controls, I'm getting everything re-wired, and I am getting new door speakers.

So it is perhaps a safe bet
that the factory HU has some
built in thermal circuit....
Said before that the replacement
speakers are usually 4ohm
Your HU (factory) is expecting 8ohm
the HU'* getting HOT as volume goes up.
Consider AMPLITUDE... get an amp

I wired up 4 ohm speakers to the stock headunit and it didnt cut out or anything, it just sounded better than stock, even without the gain control. sounds like its cutting out because of a short, and its going into protection mode. BUT you've obviously solved the problem with new cd player and wiring. good job
