do you have any warning chimes?
as when you have low fuel or washer fluid do you hear anything?
and mentioning what car/year/trim you have would be great!!
thanks

Yes I do have warning chimes in my vehicle. It is a 02 Pontiac bonneville ssei. I have chimes when the lights are left on and when the doors are opened the the vehicle running. no chime when you open the door and have the key in the switch though.

does your car play the chime when you try to lock the door after you shut the car off? the one that goes ding-ding-ding when you press the door lock button the 1st time, then lets you lock it on the 2nd press

only 3 things could be broken.
its either the key in sensor in the ignition cylender, the wire leading to the BCM, or a solder trace inside the BCM corresponding to the key in sensor pin on the connector.
