My new system ...sort of
I've just picked up the head unit for my new stereo system. I got the Pioneer DEH-P8500MP cd / mp3 deck. The one that was stolen was one model down from this one. I just like the way it looks, the quality of the sound, and the positons of the controls (volume is sitting perfect for how I drive).
Here is what I haven't gotton yet, but will in the next couple days unless someone gives me a reason not too.
Getting Alpine Type-R 6x9'* for the rear desk and 5.25 comonent Type-R'* for the front. Gonna run them all off of a Precicion Audio 440 seris 4 channel amplifier.
For the sub (cusom trunk install) I'm planning on a single Pioneer Premier 12" SPL sub and then run a Precicion Audio 2200 mono sub amp to power it.
When this is all in it should be a really nice sounding system. I can't wait till it all gets in! :P

Great choices except for the 6by9s take the factroy ones out and leave the howes empty. use the money u were going to buy the 6by9s with to buy a component amp and baffles for the front speakers just a sugguestion

So your saying ditch the rear midrange speakers? Won't that mess up the acustics with all the mid and highs comming from the front only, especially with the main front speakers so low in the door?
and for the amp, if I did ditch the 6x9'* I could then also ditch the 4 channel amp, but would need to replace it with a 2 channel, right? And when you say component amp are you talking about a speacial type of amp, or just a regular 2 channel?
I know what baffles do in the grand sceme of things, but whenyou say use them with the fornt components I get a little lost in how it applies to speakers and what exactly they accomplish....

All the rear 6by9s do is fill in the sound gap behind u, but they also degrade imaging ur 12s should get enough midbass in them. i have 15s and there is only about a 20 to 40 hertz frequency gap, which isnt much. as for ur 4 channel amp, yes u can turn it into a 2 channel amp and if u use 4 channels uonly use about 40 watts, u probly wont get the maximum potential out of ur components, if u turn it into a 2 channel amp u should get sufficient power boost u need out of the other 2 channels. as for baffles its kind of like boxing ur components and they obsorb the back wave from the speakers

You can use a 4 channel amp on one set of components. You have to have custom crossovers, and you have a channel for each tweeter, and each woofer. I've heard some nice setups like this that win SQ competitions.
Wrap up, keep the system how you had it, and you will be happy.

I think I will probably stick with the setup I had mentioned before for 2 reasons...
1) I think I will be getting and installing all the replacement speakers in the next week (components front, 6x9'* rear) and waiting on the sub for about a month or two. This will give me a lot more in the mean time.
2) All my previous systems centered around the rear 6x9'* (even though it may not have been the best setup) so to remove them entirely will just sound odd to my ears.

Yes i do have a system if ur curious about it just read my signature. And the main reason i have a setup like i do is because my installer, who happens to be a good friend of mine, is more of an spl person than an sq person, and he is pretty much the one who got me into this stuff. almost everything i know and post about i learned from him, and yes sometimes i am wrong i may misunderstand somthing he says or something like that and make a mistake. if i mislead ne one i appologise. i just try to help people out the best i can. if u want to see my setup ill post once i get my scanner setup, and i get ahold of a camera.
