The problem is, while it might be loud, it might not be as transparent. Transparent as I noted on w-body is getting in your car, turning up the bass, and saying "WTF" to yourself because you hear nothing, when in reality you hear the bass but you don't hear the sub driver itself. The bass just seems to come from...everywhere. That'* a quality of a true SQ sub, and that'* something the Image Dynamics subs do that only other much more expensive subs do and that you don't find very often at all.
I'm afraid if I were to get the Dayton subs, I would be disappointed if I found out that their level of transparency sucked. I know the first time I turned these subs on, I thought there was no bass, when in reality I heard the bass just fine, I just didn't hear the driver itself.

I guess I'm more into loud & low daily setups. Just want to play down to subsonic and move serious air without sounding like garbage

So the guy who was supposed to sell me my second pair of IDQ10V2'* had to flake since his brother made him an offer and family comes first. Understandable.
I already found a replacement and paid him today. Not sure if this is going in my car or in my wife'* car. Chances are this will go in my car and my wife will get the IDQ10V2'*.

Yeah, it is pretty awesome. Definitely a sub that'* built to last, not just some disposable commodity. If this sub impresses me, it may be the last sub I ever have to buy, so long as the recone kits are still available. I might snag one or two as spares.

**** carpet was nice, but I wanted to go a little crazy for a sub that is a little crazy.
IDMax10V3D4. .9 cubic feet with a double thick, 1.5" recessed baffle. No bracing since I really didn't think it was necessary, and there was really no place to put any bracing anyway. MDF was coated with 60/40 mixture of wood glue and water to seal and protect it from humidity and any trunk leaks I may develop in the future.
Sub is sealed with 5/8" thick foam weather stripping that got compressed down as far as it would go. No air is moving past this thing. You push the cone in, and it comes back out nice and slow. It does sound a lot like my two IDQ10V2'*, but digs much, much deeper.
You ready?
Quite fitting for a sub that really roars. Black sub carpeting is so damn boring.

My idea. I want something hilarious, because its hilarious how loud this sub gets. It gives me something to talk about when they see my car. Pop the trunk...wtf is that?!?!
It might not be "pro install" and it might not be "proper" but it sure as hell is pretty out there and everyone that has seen it in person loves it.
