Need some 6X9's, what should I get?

My factory rear speakers are blown in my Grand Prix STE. I figured I would ask and see what I should get to replace them. I still have the factory stereo and everything. I don't know how much power it has, but I would assume it isn't too crappy since it was the premium stereo and is a 10 speaker system. I don't have any clue what brand or model I should get. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Shawn

i just got alpine type r 6x9s. pretty happy with them.
i used to have boston acoustics rm9's - i loved those.

Most speakers need to be amped above what the factory HU puts out. Either change them all out, or get factory replacements (sold at walmart for cheap).

Yeah.. if you want to go aftermarket in the component speakers then I would recomend running an amp for your speakers. A hundred dollar investment will make your speakers sound out of this world. 8)

Everybody is gonna hate this, but I was at WalMart the other day, and Road Gear had 6x9's for 5 bucks each. If your on a budget, and just want sound (probably not great sound, but sound) these would probably get you going...

Okay, break out the "flames"...

I loved my Pioneer 4 ways....
7 years old and sounded and pounded as good as the day I bought um...
think there were around 2 bills but I think they were well worth it...

alpine or clarion's

Roadrash187 12-24-2003 01:01 AM

Hey MOS, did you install those yet or do you still have the stock speakers in your car still.

MOS95B 12-24-2003 01:08 AM

Mine are stock, and work just fine. I just happened to see them there. But I have used Road Gear equipment before. Not too bad for budget electronics. Don't buy that stuff thinking your gonna win any contests. But, if money is tight, it'll get you some sound.
