New Stereo and Steering Controls
Hello All, Can anyone tell me if there is a product that I can buy that will allow me to install an aftermarket stereo that can be controlled by the Steering Wheel buttons. I thought I had seen this somewhere but the salesman with whom I am working with tells me that there isnt any device made for this. I want to install a Alpine system but if I cant locate something I will just upgrade the speakers and keep the old Delco CD. On the subject of speakers what are some ideas you have as to what would work best for me. I am NOT installing an separate amp so let me know what has worked for you please. Hope to hear from you all soon.
Once again thanks
Wes

Any stereo that has an IR remote, or can use one is able to work with this. There is an adapter available that hooks up to the steering wheel controls relay, and converts the signal into an IR beam. You just place the transmitter so it hits the radio, and it works.

Components will be better then coaxial, just get some with a lower power rating. Find the best efficiency rating you can. What kind of music do you listen to? What volumes do you want? I assume nothing silly loud, since you aren't getting an amp. Any good alpine deck should be able to adequately power most speakers you'd hook, up to it. But an amp would be VERY clean, and have much better sound at every volume.

no offense bonneMeMN, but that just isnt true. even the most powerful deck could power a pair of component speakers ull be lucky to find a pair of coaxials that could be sufficiently powered by a deck. not even the 1-2000 dollar decks would power some components, hell, most of the really good ones dont even come with amps in them. if u really want good sound u need an amp
