89 "performance sound" ... is there a factory amp?
I'm going to install an MP3 player in my 89 LE bonnie, but I'm curious about amps
it has the OEM "performance sound" option. Does this setup have factory amps installed, or is it just different speakers and head unit?

Does that help...?? On the SSE bonnevilles 89-91 there was an added amp in the performance sound system, with that option there was a switch for gain control...

The factory deck has surprisingly powerful sound for a 15-year-old OEM setup ... figured I'd better ask before frying an OEM amp hidden away somewhere
Can't wait to hear it ... the pioneer deh-p8400mp from my summer car is gonna do winter duty in the bonnie; 50W x 4 deck driving the OEM speakers plus a 100W alpine amp driving a boston 10.4LF for low end. I'm sure it'll get me through winter

My other car? Haha ... "and now for something completely different" ... it'* the complete opposite of the bonnie:
92 honda civic Si, fully modified. 2100 lbs, 200hp Type-R motor, 8500 RPM redline, close-ratio 5-speed with limited-slip differential, racing suspension and brakes, etc. It'* light, it'* loud, it rides rough and has lightning-quick handling. 4500 RPM @ 75 MPH in 5th, not exactly a relaxing highway car!
But the bonnie'* a lot of fun, soooo comfortable and relaxing to drive. I'm loving it so far!
