Need help locating XM Radio Module
Can someone please tell me where the XM Module would be located in an 04 or 05 SLE? The car belongs to my Dad so I'm not certian which model year it is. I have an iPod adapter that I'm going to be installing and it plugs in-line with the XM module (not at the back of the head unit, but rather at the point where the harness plugs into the XM module) I have a hunch it's behind the glove box, but I don't know for sure and haven't had any luck searching for the info... Any help would be much appreciated!

Im going to move this to the audio section.
these guys can help you. as I dont have one. |
Well I'm not really sure of this, but in the trunk there is a panel behind the back seat that is secured with magnetic fasteners. Remove that panel & take a gander in that area, the XM module might be located there. If your car is equipped with ONSTAR, that module (mobile phone unit) is located in that area also. When you locate it, where ever it is, let us know please. Thank you.

Found it!
I found the XM box. It is in the trunk on the drivers side, just behind the rear wheelwell. I installed a Neucleus NC-X2i iPod interface which plugs in-line with the factory XM radio. The unit works quite well although only "simple" mode works. I'm e-mailing the vendor to see if anything can be done to get the "advanced" mode to work. You can see the unit at: http://logjamelectronics.com/neucncx2i.html I bought the unit and cable from http://www.sonicelectronix.com/ since they had it dramatically cheapter. I think I paid about $117 for the unit and the cable.
Hopefully this info will help others. I was suprised at how little info on iPod integration was on this site. Most other auto forums have dozens of threads on the subject. |
