I know it is :/. lol. I was thinking about piecing it together. Get the subs at one time, wait a bit then order the amp, then wait a bit more and so on. That'* exactly what I'm looking for. I know most of my friends won't be able to handle it and will be impressed to say the least. I just want to have some fun with it. How can I get ahold of him? I tried searching him up but no luck finding him.

Sorry, I must have gotten his name wrong, lol. He'* posted in this thread a few times, user 04MonteLS. Ask him about the Sundown SA-12 subs and see what he has to say. I have a feeling this is what you'll end up buying.

Well I would start with one and get a comparable amp. I think it would be within your budget, and with a sub of this caliber you're going to need to build your own box. At this point I would start looking at used amps. Search through the classifieds on dyima.com and see if anyone has a good amp for sale. Those are very upstanding guys and they won't screw you. I bought my two ID subs from there.

You don't want to overpower your sub too heavily either. Wait for MonteLS to chime in. He has a prefab box in that video, but he also mentions that its one of the only decent prefab boxes you can buy, and that its rare to find a well built prefab box.

I PM'ed him before. I hope he does soon. I'm anxious. haha. If anyone here built boxes, I'd be willing to pay a few dollars for it. I'm not too handy otherwise I would do it myself. Well, that'* putting it nicely. I looked up the same box he has and didn't get a price. I was going to call them later on to see how much it would be. I personally would like to have a custom box built. I really wish someone here knew how to though. :/. Shops around here charge anywhere between $100-$250. :/

I'm sure he would be more than willing to build you a box and ship it out. $100-$250 is right on the money for a good built box. You have to realize that this stuff isn't cheap. To build a GOOD box, you need 3/4" MDF ($26 a sheet), strong wood glue ($5), carpeting ($10), fiberglass resin ($10), 3m adhesive spray ($5), and you also have the option to use screws to hold it all together. Granted, screws aren't really that necessary since the MDF usually fails before the glue does, but its an option and at minimum, you can use them to hold the wood together while the glue dries, at which point you can remove the screws and fill up the holes with wood filler. After all is said and done you're looking at ~$60 after tax in materials, and people don't work for free. Add shipping for a box that size, and you start to realize why they cost so much.
