Maybe I'm going off on a limb here, but why are we looking at Kicker CVRs? Aren't there much better quality subs by Fi, RE, Sundown, eD, and ID among many others that would give much better value for the money spent? If I was looking for a new pair of subs, Kicker would be the last brand I'd look at.

Also, why not buy your own wire instead of buying a kit? I know its a little easier to buy a pre-made kit, but it seems to be a lot cheaper to buy your own wire and terminals separately.

As for bandpass boxes, they can be good, real good, but i've yet to hear a prefab bandpass that did. If you're dead set on a bandpass, I highly suggest you hit up Ami Creations and have him either build one for you or see if he can do up a DIY one for you, on the DIY boxes he cuts the panels, marks where the holes should be drilled and you just gotta drill, glue and screw and you have a custom made box. Or, if you can cut and build it yourself, he does designs only too and will provide you with a cut sheet.
Alright thanks a lot

I'm only looking at CVR'* because they're $170 a pair and I'm not looking to compete or anything. I'm looking for something with some bump without spending $500+. This is going to be my first build/system in my car. It'* an entry level system. Granted, I've been around the scene for some time and have heard much better than just kicker. As far as the listed companies from you and D.D., there are no prices anywhere listed for anything. Plus, I've never heard anything personally from them so how do I know if I like the way they sound? I've heard the Kickers many times. I do like the Alpine Type R'* but I'm not looking to spend $400 on just the subs alone. I'm not trying to spend too much. Unless of course you can find me something better without breaking the bank?

I typed that wrong. The set-up is going to be about $550-$600. Also, I've already got an Fi BTL lined up for my Avalanche...when I get it. This little set-up is just for some bump and for some fun.

Try amazon.com for subs. Here, let me point you in the right direction.

If you're not competing in SPL, then get one sub that is more powerful. Trust me, it will sound better, it will take up less trunk space, and will give you more options for amps.

http://www.amazon.com/SA-10-D4-Sundo...7097833&sr=8-6

http://www.amazon.com/Sex10d4-Subwoo...7097863&sr=1-2

http://www.woofersetc.com/p-4993-id1...subwoofer.aspx

The Image Dynamics sub is an SPL sub. It has a good kick, but its strength is in very accurate response, tight and controlled bass, and flawless transitions. I have two in my car and I can guarantee that at this price point you will not find a better sounding SQ sub. SQ doesn't mean its going to be quiet as a mouse though, believe me when I say this will run with Alpine Type-R subs.

The other two subs are also excellent SQ/SPL subs. I would take one of those (or its 12" counterpart) over any Kicker sub. You don't have to hear it, trust me, anyone here who has been in car audio for a while will tell you that they sound excellent and much better than two Kicker CVRs.

Thanks for the links. I know it'* not needed, but I'm looking for something in the 800 RMS area. It'* childish, I know, but I'm only 20. I love to hear the bass in my hip-hop and my house music. Is there anything out there that hits hard without killing my wallet? I looked at this http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_...roducts_id=784 . Then I saw these http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_...products_id=30 . I'm just soooo confused now on what I want to do

I'm 25, and I was once 20 and was into loud car audio too. Earlier this year I got bored for the 15" 1600W sub I was running and went to two 10" SQ subs. That Sundown sub I listed will pound HARD. Ask anyone around here, I guarantee that it will outperform two Kicker CVRs.

I would start by building your own box. Its very easy, its cheaper, and will be better than nearly any pre-fab box you can find. I would go with one of these if I were you:

http://www.amazon.com/SA-12-D4-Sundo...7099226&sr=8-2

I need you to keep something very clear in mind. Wattage ratings will vary between companies and are a very inaccurate way to compare subs. MyMontels on here who has been giving you flawless advice just bought a Digital Designs sub for $300+ and its only rated for 500W, yet you can give it over 1000W on a daily basis and it will take it without a problem, and people know this. These Sundown subs are a similar situation. They are heavily underrated, whereas those Kicker subs are OVER rated. Last I remember MyMontels had two of these SA-12'* in his car and the side body panels in his trunk were flexing like mad. There'* a video here somewhere. These subs take an enormous amount of power and have extremely high output levels.

I don't know. I just don't want to be disappointed. That'* my biggest worry. I don't really have the money to buy something and if I don't like it, replace it with something else. I do trust you, I just don't have the funds to do much if I don't like the end result. I don't know. lol. How big would the box have to be for a single one? And what kind of amp would I need to run?

My cousin has a single 10 inch Type R in a Mercury Mariner and it sounded alright. Definitely could have more kick to it. I want something that will rattle my mirror and make it hard to breath. That'* mainly what I'm looking for. I know the CVR'* couldn't do that.

The Sundown sub can accomplish that, although that'* a pretty tall order for $600, amp and wiring included. Trust me when I say that you will be disappointed with the CVRs if you're looking for ground shaking bass, and the Sundown sub will be much closer to what you're looking for. Ask MyMontels and he'll give you more information on these subs because I know he'* worked with them a lot and he can tell you what kind of box you'd need. If you want to do this right, you're going to have to trust us because we've been in the game for quite a long time and we know what brands and what subs perform and which ones are and aren't worth buying.

I know it is :/. lol. I was thinking about piecing it together. Get the subs at one time, wait a bit then order the amp, then wait a bit more and so on. That'* exactly what I'm looking for. I know most of my friends won't be able to handle it and will be impressed to say the least. I just want to have some fun with it. How can I get ahold of him? I tried searching him up but no luck finding him.
