92 SSE, Factory Tape switching to Pioneer CD player.........
Good afternoon
I tried to search for 10 mins but found nothing, so I registerd and now im family.
I have a 1992 SSE Boni, as of the moment I have the delco radio with EQ and tape player. There is also a slider Gain for the 6x9'* in the rear. I did a quick search in the trunk and found no AMP but im thinking there has to be one because of that Gain slider.
I'm not to worried about never using the steering controls because the Dam radio is 1foot away
I'm going to pick up a pioneer radio and face plate kit and install it, I have installed about 10 radios and about 5 AMP and sub setups. All went well and clean looking.
Is there anything that I have to Re-hookup to the factory wiring or that Gain slider controll ?
Also I would like to reaplace the 6 x 9'* in the back, as of now there are two red and two blacks, my guess is that a positive and Neg. are going to the radio and the other sets of Positive and Negative are going to that Gain slider/Amp
Also the kicker panels and rear tweeters, is this standard option for the 92 SSE ?
Any help would be great guys
Here is a quick pick of what I have :

ok....here is the deal with the 92-93'*
the electronic climate controll VF dimming is controlled by the HU.....if you replace the HU you will have max brightness on the display, that would mean its annoying at night...now the good thing is that there is a Fix at the techinfo at the top of the Page....
now for the install of the Pioneer its simple, get a GM aftermarket harness, and you have the option to hook up the gain slider or not, it wont matter either way

if you want to add 6x9'* you could just connect them to the wires that power the Tweeters that are back there and you will have full range coming out of them... OR hook them up to the amp, and then you would have the low ranges from the 6x9'* and the higher ranges from the tweeters

The 4 wires going into each 6x9...here is the thing:
SSE/SSEi'* (or premium sound) have dual voice coil 6x9'*....one coil is directly connected to the stereo and the gain control does not affect that coil. The other coil is the bass gain coil and IS controlled via the slider on the dash. Search for my audio posts and you will find which wires to tap into if you are not going to use the slider/gain control.
The factory amp really isn't much of an amp. It is more of a low-level crossover than anything else.
