as mentionned it is an aftermarket. I had one but when I had the engine dying problem the first thing the dealer did was blame the remote starter. The dealer claimed that as long as the remote was hooked up he couldn't read the car'* computer so remote had to be removed. After nothing else panned out I went along with him and paid him to put the wiring back to factory. Problem persisted. You may want to make sure car is running 100% before installing one so it doesn't get blamed.

Watch out for 'Code Alarm' Piece of @%$#! died after 1 year. I new the installer real well and he said he replaced virtually all the systems but mine. mine finally quit after the buisness I bought it from went out of buisness.
Even so Awsome option

Some of them use a spare key and leave it in the car. I believe they figured out a way to use a resistor or something so that way you dont have to leave your key in the car.
