Im gunna be getting another amp as well...i know what I want already, 1300 watt sony mono amp...only thing is, im out of outputs on the back of my deck...what do I do?

You can do a few things. Some amps have outputs on them, so you can feed into another amp. You can also get passive, and powered splitters, EQ'*, crossovers, etc.

If you get a standalone crossover, you can have a seperate box that will control what frequencies are sent between your sub amps vs your speaker amps. You will need to run power to this box. You could also upgrade your deck as well.

I really wouldn't get a Sony amp unless it was the ES line. My roomate has an ES in his firebird that works well, but their car-fi stuff isn't up to par for the money IMO.

Other Advice: Build your own enclosures and walls and what not. If you get a cap, get a good sized one, and understand that you still need a good electrical system.

I've heard and experienced bad things with Sony amps as well. I helped install one in my friend'* car. It fried within a month. Went to exchange it for a new one straight up at Best Buy and the sales guy pointed us to a cheaper more powerful more reliable Rockford Fosgate. It'* lasted 6 years.

Maybe quality has improved since then, who knows.

My 600w Sony powers my 10" rockford just fine. It hits so hard you feel it in your hair. Seems to be taking the beatings I have given it over the past 2 years.

If you want a cheap high quality amp, look into a elemental designs amp or a similar "internet sales only" company, they are sorta like the INTENSE/ZZP of car audio, they dont have authorized shops etc.

If you want to buy something local go with Alpine, Rockford Fosgate, JL Audio, Phoenix Gold, Orion, Kicker.

Other brands out there but those came to mind, I have 4 years on my Elemental Designs E12A gen2.5 and 800.2 Amp.

Joel - I'm guessing the rating is 600W max, there was a test done by a guy over a CAF where he tested around 20 amps to see what the actual output was under the same conditions, Sonys saw around 2/3 of the RMS rating, so therefore your 600W (max) amp is only putting out 200watts top. However in reality thats probably all you want for a 10" sub.

yeah its 600w max, and it works out to about 250rms.

And I agree with those other selection of amps, except for Phoenix Gold, they are crap. They are nothing more than a glorified Pioneer.

As far as the sony amp matt wants to get, I'd say go for it. 1200watts, probably about 500-600rms, and for 300 and change in cdn its the best bang for your buck.

I dont know, I will look around...even that shitty Panasonic one I had lasted me three years...still works..but not for this aplication

far from the best bang for your buck. For $100 more you can double the RMS output going with a slightly lesser known brand.

However whatever you end up getting, make sure it has a good warranty/return policy..if it does it does not matter what the quality if you return it...so in that case I'd get whatever. In my case I went with a lesser known brand for cheaper and took the chance that if it broke I'd have to send it in and wait for them to repair it then have them send it back. If you go buy something at walmart/best buy/local car audio shop you have a better chance as far as the "support" goes if something dies on it
