Default positive and negative wires

I have a 1999 bonneville and put new rear speakers in and during installation i had to cut the wires in order to remove the plug that the stock speakers used. The wires, instead of being black and red are brown and yellow on the left speaker, and blue and light blue on the right.Does anybody know what negative and positive are with these colors.

if you have a Haynes manual it will tell you. or run to an autoparts store and open it up for 2 seconds and read it. that is if you need an answer quick...

i will add that adding in unamped speakers will not do much for sq, as you still are running off your hu. it will sound clearer aka more 'highs' but you will lose low end extension. you'll see what i mean when you install them.

also you can just hook the speaker up and be fine. it will very very obvious if you are getting any cancellation right away if so just switch them. there is 0 chance of damaging anything doing it this way.

edit: out of curiosity which speakers did you get? and what HU do you have.

you can just hook them up and see if they cancel. if so just flip the wiring on one.
or goto and read a haynes...
or wait for someone on here to give you the correct color codes for the wires which i am unable to do...
i'm sure though that there is a FSM digitally uploaded that would also give you the info you require as well.
sorry i can't be of more help!

you can in no way blow the speakers buy hookup up the + & - backwards.

most companies dont spend time to make the wires obvious either pos. or neg., in my past installations for people i just pick one that i want to use as a positive and one as a negative and its never not worked, as iluvmybonnie said just see if they cancel, play with them a little bit and see if anything happens
