Gain Control and HU'*
Ok, I've heard a few different things on this and am trying to nail it down.
Just put in a new HU using a connector for the right year. Piece of cake everything works like a charm. Except the gain. Some mentioned they changed only HU and still had gain and others said they lost it. I'm trying to figure out how some kept in and others like me lost it.
I am thinking that there are some wires off the HU connector that head over to it and loop back to the HU connector. But that really doesn't make sense...no aftermarket HU would work with that???
Anyone? I've got the FSM and will probably start checking it out tonight. I'm up for suggestions or if someone can look if theirs is wired up differently.

Someone on here posted the schmetics for the gain switch. Make sure you have the power turn-on wire from the reciever going to the amp AND the power antenna (i'm guessing you have one). If your reciever only has one you'll need to splice them both onto it. The wires on the reciever will be straight blue and blue with a white tracer. I'll look for those diagrams and try see what the deal is for ya.

Ahhhhhhh that splains it. I didn't have a wire on the connector for the amp turn on, so most likely my factory amp isn't on and hence..no gain.
If I'm understanding you properly.

Alright... The stock amp was as mentioned earlier in this thread not getting power to turn it on. I hooked up the amp on from the new HU to the pink wire and was pretty disappointed.
The stock amp as some might think...SUCKS. I did however get back the gain slider. The connector I purchased to connect to the factory wiring did not have this wire in it and I bought another one to use a wire from it.
Will be posting pics once the rest of my parts come in and I get the bubble wrap outta the other 1/2 din.

No he could have had an installation kit, not all of them have every wire that the factory radio has, such as the amp turn on. And yes, the factory gain amps DO suck major balls. You might as well just disable it and run directly to the rear speakers. They'll probaly sound better anyways. What'd u get for a HU anyways?
