Default GP rear speakers not working

Hey all, I have a 2000 Pontiac Gran Prix se. It'* completely stock I've never done anything to it but drive it. Got only 75000 miles on it. Had to replace all the brake lines a couple of years ago,(they rusted out), but, other than that its been a great car. My problem now is the rear speakers don't work. They will pop on intermittently but for the most part don't work. The right side poped on for a sec then right back off today. I'd like to trouble shoot it some but, I got no idea where to start looking. I don't know where the wires are routed through to look for a pinched, or shorted out wire. Any suggestions would be most welcome, and appreciated. Thanks, Mike

Do you have a premium sound system with an factory amp, or is it just run of the mill stuff?

Also, rear doors or rear deck?

Alright, are the speakers in the rear doors or the rear deck?

They are in the rear deck. When i had this problem, it was my amp not working.

He says he doesn't have an amp though. That was my original thought too.

Speakers are in rear deck. Fronts work fine, adjust from left to right, just no sound from rears. Except every once and a while one side or the other will come on for a brief time then cut out again. This does'nt affect the fronts at all, they continue to play fine.

That sounds exactly like what happened to mine. I'm betting that you do in fact have an amp and it'* going out.

Have you checked for loose connections or a bad output on the stereo itself??

I had a 1999 GTP. One day i noticed my rear speakers were not working. I un-pluged them and pluged them back in and it did not fix the problem Few weeks later i noticed they were on! I turned it up, and put it to the rear speakers. and they were on. But then went back off. did this every now and then. I Swore it was the amp because why else would they both kick on and off. But it was the speakers.

To replace them. Buy some 6x9;* Take the bottom seat off, (its not hard 2 little safety, Pull an it will pop up) Then take the 4 bolts out of the back of the seat and lift up on the back of the seat. Then Its kinda strait forward.
