LED Project- need material -
So while my car is in for paint i am going to clear my corner lamps. The trick is that I am also making them completely LED (not LED bulb replacement, but adding lights over the entire width of the fixture.. about 10 of them @ 8000 mcd each)
I dont want to see the actual LED bulbs tho. And once you clear out the amber reflector there is no diffusion. I want to get the same or similar type of reflector material back in so it diffuses the LED'*.
Any ideas!?
Im also going to be able to strobe the LED'* with the flip of a switch...(will look very similar to the xenon strobes) I also will need to build an electronic flasher system so that my lights will continue to flash since they wont draw hardly anything.

What effect are you going for? Do you just want the whole light to be lit up evenly? I like Blazin'* light deflector. What kind of LEDs are you using (colour, viewing angle, current draw) How are you strobing them?

bright orange / yellow LED'* are hard to find. Difusing it is as easy as cutting the tip of the LED off. That will eliminate the LED from being "focused" and therefore difuse the light. It does NOT reduce light output.
strobing LED'* is really simple with LED Flasher w/ 7 Patterns I have one (videos of the pattterns too)

this will simulate the load of a regular bulb when you have LED bulbs.

Yellow LEDs arent hard to find you need to know where to look. Ebay is the only place I would ever buy LEDs from. Check this link

I have these LEDs in white and they are brighter than anything else out there. The white ones are 13 lumens which is 22000 mcd. The yellow ones are 8 lumens which is about 13000 mcd. Also these are 8mm and have a viewing angle of 55*, typically other LEDs are 15*-30*. For 15 bucks shipped for 10 leds these would be awesome, and get a strobe controller, you will be pimpin. I would suggest wiring 4 in series with no resistor b/c they draw a lot more power (500mW) than small resistors can handle.
Also, what is the resistance of the original lightbulbs? You can simply put a resistor of that value in parallel with the LED circuit depending on how you wire them

1.50 per LED is really expensive IMO...
you could use a voltage regulator instead of a typical resistor. They can handle more and dont rely on a specific load.

YES! Thanks for the material. I was thinking that the lightcovering was what i was going to use, i just didnt think there would be a picture of it anywhere. It looks better than i thought!
Thats most definately the way im going.
I found some 11700 mcd orange LEDs that i will probably use.. approx 5-10 per light... (probably 6 because then i would only need a very small resistor just to protect them) depending on how well they light it up and about $.70 per LED is more affordable for me.
I want to make an electronic flasher (i have the knowledge, im going into EE) because the resistor wastes energy and i dont want to do that. Anybody here know if an electronically controlled flasher will mess up the car in anyway (my FSM'* are in my car at the bodyshop)
If anyone wants to go in with me and buy 50 LEDs i can get a discount for bying 100 total and it will be only .54 per LED. If we buy 500 we can get them for .48. So anyone that wants to do this LET ME KNOW. Ill be buying in the next day or two.

I just realized those are only 6 degree beam width. They will still work alright if i diffuse tem properly. I just dont want to spend more than $0.75 per LED. Im going to search some more.
