Bro same problem here. What modules you have? Are you getting chimes?

slick94prix 09-05-2007 10:26 AM

Lemme pull up the wiring differences between the Monsoon and the base radio at work today. I'll scan up both diagrams for everyone's use.

slick94prix 09-05-2007 01:48 PM

Nobody want's to see diagrams.

ddalder 09-05-2007 02:06 PM

The diagrams you posted are for the 2001 model year. This year used a Bose system, not a Monsoon system. I'm not sure if there is a difference or not, but these diagrams may not help.

ds2050 09-05-2007 02:34 PM

i have tryed metra gmc04 and 06 and 09 the module parts works fine the radio shuts off when onstar is pressed and it retains power but no sound thanks guys

slick94prix 09-05-2007 02:40 PM

They have seemed to have worked for other years in my experience at work.

IMO, worth a shot. I can always find more diagrams.

They appear to be close, although I haven't looked pin for pin. Some of the labels are different than GM's. Regardless, these are copyrighted and shouldn't be posted here.

You mean GMOS-09?

ds2050 09-05-2007 07:03 PM

They were posted on our forum that we have for our interweb at work, through a major corporation.

If the mods feel that they need to come down, so be it.

I must have misread this:

Or maybe I misunderstood the great big copyright symbols at the bottom of the pages. Sorry, MY mistake :?

I still think that the problems you guys are having with the Monsoon system, is that these aftermarket integration modules are not passing the signal to turn on the amplifer.
Probably just wrong pin location in the harness.

I would do one of the following;
Verify the pins in the factory harness via testing with a DMM and relocate pins in the module as needed.
Run your own Remote wire to the amp
Bypass the amp all together.

Does the Monsoon system use a signal via the Databus to turn on the amp (thought I read this some were) ?

If so that could be the problem cause most of these modules convert the Databus into a 12v switched (Acc) for aftermarket hook up.

Good luck,
Dutch

IN the case of the Data bus sending the signal I think that the only way to power the amp would be to tap into the 12v line at the amp and run it to the head unit.. correct?

Some do, but not the Bonneville. ;)

No this is not correct. It is a moot point anyway (see above).

ddalder 09-06-2007 12:51 PM

I have to agree with Hawkjet. There is absolutely no connection from the Monsoon amp to the data bus. Some amps in other GM products are controlled by data bus (power, volume, audio, etc.) but this was never the case with the Bonneville Monsoon system. When I spoke with Vince, we confirmed that 12V was present at the pin (14V Ref) responsible for signalling the amp to turn on. We also confirmed operation of the signal for turning on the antenna module while we were at it.

Personally, I've never had first hand experience with these modules but I do have a pretty good grasp on the OEM end. At this point I still believe a call to the Metra tech support people may be invaluable.

Would you mind giving them a call? Because I have no clue as to what is going on. You have the pictures of the GMOS-09 and the understanding of the OEM part of it.

Will you PM me all the details of your HU so I've got the info I need in case they ask questions. I'll try and give them a call tomorrow (Friday).

ds2050 09-06-2007 11:14 PM

ok i found out what it was on the aftermarket conector in pin a 3 the wire was missing in all of them and that is the 14volt ref wire to the amp so what to do is to connect the rem aka remote turn on wire from your aftermarket radio to a3 pin and the monsoon amp will turn on and all my problems ar solved no rewiring the car and no more money spent so thanks guys alot i am thank full
so now to the next question do any make a cold air intake for the gxp

thanks again

There is no need for a CAI for the GXP just drop in a K&N filter and you are set, There have been plenty of discussions about this point in several other posts And our AirBox is way ahead of the others. There are a few things you can do to the stock air box to increase flow. Check out some other posts I'm sure you will find the information you are looking for.

I have question still in this area. I have the GMOS-09 and I am wondering do i really need it? Cant I use just the harness without the box? So bypass the box completely, I know I wont have chimes But who cares.

GXP_Vince 10-02-2007 03:06 PM
