When I bought my SSEi the Bose 6x9s were shot. I replaced them with a slightly used set of CV 6x9s that I had lieing around. The CVs are now blown. Just a coincidence or is the Bose amp evil? I dont think the amp is bad, I just think it over drives the 6x9s. It prolly isnt the most clean signal going to the 6x9s either. Afterall it is an OEM amp.

Anyone haveing long term luck with replacing the 6x9s?

What do you listen to them at? Are your ears blown?

Factory amps in any car, are always weird values, Especially bose stuff. They use silly low impedence and weird watts to attain "decent" sound.

No, my ears are not blown. I get them checked every year according to OSHA regs. Every year they are above average. I dont listen to my music loud.

Nope, the ones in my head. OSHA requires I get my ears checked once a year because of my job.

What do you do for a living?

I have a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. I am a Engineering Product Manager for a industral laundry equipment manufacturer. I work in the office but have to go into the shop often. Since our shop can have high noise levels OSHA require I have my hearing checked once a year.

Anyway, I spoke with a Crutchfield product person and he told me to choose a speaker with a low power hadndling rating. Like 2-100W, his reasoning is that the bose stuff uses 1-2 ohm speakers (i knew that) and these would be 4 ohm causing the power output to be lower from the amp. His work around was to get a speaker with a high efficency rating and rated for lower power ratings.

It was more comical then serious. I know some people who just crank on stock sound systems and it doesn't get any louder.... It just distorts ugh. I'm not sure what the outputed power is like on those bose systems though.

The old Delcos would get loud then it was a self governor to cut it done a couple of notches. The newer ones kinda stay up.
