If money is that big of an issue, sell one of your amps, lol. You're getting competition SQ grade amps and sub, and you're getting flea market speakers. Its money thrown away when you consider you'll be replacing them in the near future anyway.

Haha, no they weren't. Read it again......under the heading "Close, but no cigar" the first one is the PPI flat piston sub. The reason it was even considered is due to being used in Alma Gates' Bronco which pushed the DB Drag world record well into the 160'*. That was an historical achievement back then, history making stuff there. Like the article said, this sub never had retail success.

But beyond that, how do you figure that this will be an SQ system when your sub is made for SPL? Just so you know, in an SQ system the sub is turned down so low that the bass sounds like it'* coming from the front. Doesn't even sound right, huh? If you can tell that the sub is in the trunk, it'* not an SQ setup.

If he was serious about SQ he wouldn't use an SPL sub for his sub stage, or get bargain barrel speakers, or use passive xovers, or not take the time to find the ideal mounting locations for his speakers to achieve the goal of an SQ system which is pinpoint soundstage and imaging to reproduce the music as true and accurate to the source as possible.

I think he'* just misusing the term SQ, the term he should be using is SBTWIHN, aka Sounds Better Than What I Have Now

My head unit is 3 way active, and wasnt sure if i was gonna use the PPI EQ or not, ive never used an external eq in a car audio application before. When i say a SQ system i dont mean im building something as detailed as urs MONTE... I was just saying im straying away from ungodly loud bass, and to a more refined, and even (equal highs, mids, and bass....well a little more bass) soundstage. If i had the money i would have components and pods all the way around but that isnt the case as the moment..
When i mainly when i said i was changing over to SQ was... I will be using the Premier deck, using the multichannel amp for my interiers and a tighter and smaller sub. I dont have much experience with this sub so i dont know of its SQ.

As detailed as mine??? LMAO. The only thing detailed about my build is the write up I did of the install. My car isn't SQ either.....I love the soundstage, imaging, detail and accuracy of an SQ setup but i'm a basshead too so you and I are in the same class of audio nut....it'* not pure SQ or pure SPL, more like a blend of the two, SQL
