Infinity 505CS 5 1/4" QUESTION
I'm looking to purchase and install the Infinity 505CS 5 1/4" components in the front doors next week. I am just wondering if anyone has these installed, and if so, how do they sound? Any input would be nice. I have Infinity 6952i 6x9'* in the rear deck already. I am going with Infinity'* all around.
Thanks
Thanks

I have Infinty Kappa speakers and componets, 5 1/4 w/componets and 6x9 3ways. They should sound good but alot will depend on how much power you put through them, the head unit'* processor and the amp you have.
Either way they should be far better than stock.

Yeah my friend runs these in his Cutlass with a 50x4 Kenwood HU and they sound great. They have plenty of tweet and mid levels. They are a quality speaker even tho they arent that pricey

sound great !
I also installed the kappa 6x9'* and kappa components and they sound amazing, but if your looking for some nice mid bass up front go with the 6'1/4'* instead of the 5'1/2 that one inch or so makes a noticeable diference.

How to fit 6 1/2"
How do you get a nice clean fit with a 6 1/2" speaker into a 5 1/4" cutout, and avoid the unprofessional look of the whole thing. I really don't want to cut up the door much. If there is a way to do it, please share.
Also, what good does that dynamat stuff do? And is it needed for this application. Where is a good place to mount the Infinity tweeter? Stock position? I've heard that a good place is on the top of the door panel near the front of the door (near the glass, if you can picture it). Is this true? Or should i stick with the stock position.[/url]

Leave the componet in the stock mount. Your ears can tell direction with higher pitched sounds and it won't sound as good. You can make a bracket to get the 6 1/2 to fit in the 5 1/4, but you might have problems with the speakers hitting the door panel.

Remember, installation is about 90% of the determining factor of how good your system is going to sound. You can buy the best speakers out there but they're going to sound like crap unless installed corectly. The main thing to make sure you do when installing speakers is to make sure the surface where the speaker is contacting the panel is totally air tight. I like to use thing weather stripping, or sound deadener between the speaker and the mount for just this reason. It really does make a big difference.

Thanks
Okay, thanks for the help. What i'm going to do is go with the 5 1/4" speakers, mount everything in the stock location, and possibly use dynamat. I'll tell you how it sounds when everything is install, in about a week or two.

One more thing!
Something just popped into my head. These speakers come with an external crossover. Exactly how big is this thing and where do I mount it? Too far from the speakers is bad right? I don't know where there is space for it..
