Retained Accessory Radio Power in 2000 Bonneville SE
Hey everybody, I'm new to the forum. I haven't made a page or uploaded any of my pics yet. I'll get them up once I've gotten some real stuff done to it. So please welcome me by seeing if you can help me out. Okay, so I'm putting an Eclipse 8443 in my new 2000 Bonneville SE. Apparently, new Bonneville'* don't like to have radio'* put in them. In case some of you don't know, if you have the ribbon cable, the only harness that will work for it is the Scosche GM07, and you'll have to order it through sounddomain or the company or somewhere. However, the switched power doesn't work on it. There'* no voltage on the wire at any point, and furthermore, there is no voltage change when the ignition is turned on on any of the other wires. So I went searching for another wire that I could use. I found one that is just switched accessory power. (It'* a yellow wire in the harness on the right under the dash.) However, I was completely unable to find a wire anywhere in the entire car that is retained accessory power. Retained referring to the radio staying on when the key is removed, but the doors are still closed. If anyone knows where the wire is or where to find it, please let me know. I'll keep looking as I keep working on it. If I can't find it, I'll figure out a way to create it myself, and I'll post it.

There is no retained power lead in the flat ribbon cable, you can use the cig lighter (orange wire). Shares a 20 amp fuse with the overhead accesories and is part of the retained power circuit.

Long day
I woke up this morning and tried to use the orange wire, but the problem is, the cigarette lighter has power for 10 minutes after the ignition is turned off, so I searched every last wire that I could find, including those in the door panel going to the window....I mean, the windows have the retained power, but there'* no wire for it. So I called Scosche tech support and they told me its a digital signal in the radio that gives it retained power. So I took apart my radio to see if I could relocate the board somewhere else and pull retained power off of it somewhere. In the process, I shorted out the board. Later, I may still use it though, because the door chime still works, and I assume the low gas ding does as well, but for now, its gonna sit in my closet, fried, and I still have no retained accessory power.

I'm sorry I thought thats what you wanted "retained power' the cig lighter is retained power. Do you want constant power or ignition switched power without retained?

I was looking for the kind of retained accessory power like where you turn the key off, but the radio and windows still work until the door opens. Thanks for the help though.
I didn't find the wire, but for those of you who want to know what to do, you can find a relay schematic for RAP on www.the12volt.com. I made one from 3 30 amp relays, and it'* kinda bulky, but it'll serve its purpose.....if only I can find a door trigger wire.....

if you want to keep the chimes, etc, you need the stereo relocation kit. it comes with everything to relocate the stereo to anywhere in the car, plus it includes a a new power lead which you need to run to the fuse box. otherwise, like in my wife'* cavalier, i ended up rewiring the whole car for her stereo, but i didnt use any of the oem equipment either

You can defeat the 10-minute turn-off on accessory power on 2000+ Bonnies by moving the appropriate fuse in the underhood fuse panel. The fuse socket has three plugs (let'* call them A-B-C). The car ships with fuse positioned using A-B. If you move the fuse to B-C, the accessory outlet circuit remains hot all the time.
