Factory cheap alternator upgrade
well I mean, I have 2 Sundown SA-12 D4'* and an AudioQue AQ1200. I don't know if that helps. I really don't want dimming considering my battery already drops down to right above red at lights and such. :/
sounds like either your battery, alt or cable connections are going bad, you will definitely want to fix that before you add extra load.
if you play your radio at idle alot you may need to add a second battery. if you just drive normally and dont intend to stay in one spot, i think upgraded stock stuff will probably be alright, i use a bigger oem style interstate batteries, they are a little expensive but ive been impressed with there performance in some other vehicles. a stock 140a is alright if its working right. make sure you take apart and clean all your cable connections, grounds etc..

just came across this, gm, factory alt. the benefit i see is listed someplaces as 100a at idle,
most of the writeups i saw were for trucks but i think with a little bit of mods would be a cheap upgrade for any gm,
AD244 (130-145amp that comes in the NBS trucks (99-05 only)

most of the blazer guys and j body guys were talking about slightly bigger body, some had to modify there brakets, some had to run bigger belts or smaller alt pulley, some just had to remove part of there stock bracket. i couldnt find anywhere were anyone had modified a w or h body. but just as a guess if you have a car after 2000 it will probably have the right connector already and require minimal mechanical mounting mods
