Default has anyone glassed a front stage in their 00+??

I just purchased an 02 SLE and am in the middle of my audio upgrade. I Have been glassing for about 5 years, but have never had a vehichle this new.. so Im reluctant to modify. If anybody has done anything similar to what I am talking about.. i.e. kickpods, door pods, pillars, etc. and can show me a couple of examples, It would a good motivator to begin modding.... I already have my front stage in place, a pair of PowerBass Xtreme 3XL 6in components. I have been considering doing a second set up front , but I would like ANY input that anybody has regarding mainly kickpanel mods.

Thanks,
Aaron

I do not know of anyone that has done any front stage modifications other than speaker swaps / compontnents in a 2000+ bonnie. I would love to see what someone could do with a little fiberglass

the more I think about it, the more I want to do kickpods... anybody know about how much kicks from a boneyard run? I dont want to f-up my stock panels... I just cant bring myself to do that yet... my caprice was another story tho.. I glassed a comp set into the doors with the tweets in the A-pillars and I glassed the rear deck to hold 6.5 coax'* ... but the caprice is a 92 so it was easier to bring myself to glass the factory panels..

and is anybody absolutely sure about the headunit size??? I know it is suppossed to be Din and 1/2, but the damn thing looks more like Din and 3/4 :? ... closer to a double DIN.. and a 2 Din dvd player would be friggin SWEEET....

Unless you're going to vent the 6.5" driver in the kickpanel to the outside of the car, it would be rather pointless to use a 6.5" mid.

The stock player IS double din. It'* 4" tall and 7" or so wide. It fits the exact dimensions of most aftermarket double din cd players. It is not din and a half. The 87-99 Bonnevilles were.

but the BEZEL is not, and a double din WILL NOT WORK without modification

What does the console look like? Ive seen a 8 inch driver fabbed into the console to bring up the mids with the comps in the doors, but not on a bonne and I dont htink Ive been in anything newer than Bills 99.

Have you thought of making a Fiberglass kick panel box ?
It would sit next to the kick panels on an angle pointed directly towards you for great sound imaging.

Here is a link (Scroll down for pics)

I've looked at the specifications for Pioneer and Kenwood headunits and the face of the unit is atleast .5" shorter in all directions than the total width/height of the player. The face upon measuring is small enough that it should fit through the dash opening. Not all double din units have the bezel flush with the sides of the cd player.. Some have openings just like ours. I've seen a few Auroras with a double din unit, and the opening on it are slightly SMALLER than the opening on the Bonneville, and they fit fine.

it all depends on the unit you want to use, correct, but with what i wanted to use, and another thread asked about eclipse nav screens, it will not work because of the button placement

what im sayin is that the mounting area itself is double din, but the trim bezel is smaller than double din, so in many circumstances, some modification may be required to make the bezel not interfere with operation of the unit
