I have a -93 SSE
The rear speakers have 4wires how do i connect regular 2wires 6x9?

Left rear:
BRN +
YEL -

Right rear:
DK BLU +
LT BLU -

Disregard the other wires (the ones with the stripes). These go to the subwoofer part of the OEM speaker which you do not have on the aftermarket ones. Your gain control will have no effect on the bass anymore.

Well, you are loosing the amplified bass the OEM system has but there'* still the bass from the headunit itself. Do you have a factory or aftermarket HU?

I have the factory cd player, the reason i wanna change them ist cause i canīt listen to loud i have to put down the gain level and the equalizer cause the Bass isnīt clean if you know what i mean? (hey that rimed Itī* sounds like the speakers canīt handle the bass.

I see. It kinda sounds like what mine was suffering from. On certain bass notes, it would "fart". Replacing those speakers will definately eliminate that, as it sounds like they have a voice coil problem. You will probably enjoy more bass than you're use to with the new spkrs but not quite what a properly functioning OEM system would be like.

Ok, i will do a test run tommorow installing the new speakers, and feel how it sounds, if i donīt like it will just change it back.
I donīt get however itī* a build in gain level in the speaker? Shouldīnt that be some sort of filter or amp outside the speaker?

Like if thereī* an extra amp, could i not connect it to the new speakers?

The rear 6x9s have two coils. One that plays a full range directly from the radio and the other that plays the low frequencies from the amplifier. The amplifier has 4 inputs, one from each channel from the radio, and two outputs that are somewhat controled with the gain slider.

By connecting the aftermarket speakers as described above, they will play the full range of frequencies from the radio but the gain slider will have no effect. If you connected the speakers to the other wires (the striped ones) they will only play the bass from the amplifier but can be controled with the gain slider.

I suppose you could hook them up the other way but personally I woulf prefer the rear channels to be full range. Some members have used the unused wires as inputs to an aftermarket amplifier to run a sub box or other subwoofer application. This is pretty slick as you will have considerably more bass than stock and still have the gain control.

Before i had upgraded to aftermarket head unit, i was using the stock cd player with Infinity 6x9'* in the rear, and 2 Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1 in the rear which were powered by a Memphis amp. I was using a line converter which was hooked to the sub wires for the OEM speakers, two channels, and was able to use the stock gain control slider as a bass booster. The bass was much louder with the stock setup than it is now with the aftermarket deck. I don't even have the subs in the car anymore as the deck has given my 6x9'* the ability to produce the bass that i crave without draining my alternator.

Best investment into a car audio system is to get a good deck, at least 20 watts RMS and 50 max (x 4 of course) and get a good set of speakers up front and in the rear deck, something like Infinity'* which are well known for their superior quality to nearly every other brand out there. I have had my Infinity'* for over 3 years now and have played heavy bass on them everyday and they are still like new and sound incredible. I get asked if i have subs when ever someone knew gets in the car! I love it.
