Aftermarket Radios

Aftermarket Radios
I am sorry if this sounds like a stupid Question.
With the HUD radio station display and the Driver Specific presets available on the 2005 GXP, do those features become unavailable if the stock head unit is replaced with an Aftermarker radio? I know there is a wiring harness that will make things connect "smoothly" with after market products, but do you lose those functions?
Thank you in advance for your help.

It works with the remote control compatible headunit.

you may be right i was under the impression that nothing extra was necesary to use the wheel controls.
i believe you might be right though with that item you found on crutchfield.
well it says to call with any questions so why not give em a call to see if you do need this item or not?!?

Ive never heard of an aftermarket deck that willl work with steering wheels without some external adaptor. When you replace the factory deck with aftermarket, any unique features are usually lost.

Thank you for all your responses. I wanted to elaborate a little further. One of the features I am reading about is the Driver Specific Presets. On the inside of the Door handle there are two buttons for the driver numbers. When the driver number is pressed, the seat moves to that drivers seating position, and the radio loads with that drivers presets.
I assume that this function is controlled through an interface on the head unit. But if I put in an alternate head unit, is there a specific feature I should be looking for to maintain that functionality?
Also, in one of the Illustrations, the Heads Up Display is shown with the Radio Station Displayed. Does anyone know if this is also a function of the Head Unit? I figured somethng this specific would simply be a function assigned to one of the wires in the harness, and that any aftermarket should be able to reproduce that effect.
Also please advise if I should be posting this in the GXP Forum.
Thanks again!!!
