Dash Removal

First off, thanks for the helping me understand upgrading the "premium" sound system(not bad for stock though) I am going to update the climate control and the cd player. The Current (stock) cd player does not work and I broke the volume knob. What my question is what is there to know on pulling the cover off and installing these items(Dont what to brake anything). Also can somone sugest what to do regurding finicky(blinks) driver info center(the car diagram and that) Thanks for the help.

I hope you have an FSM....

The wiring changes alot with the different A/C

The Driver info is probably the connector being corroded.

The trim piece that surrounds the radio, which is has a thin piece over the steering column and to the other side, is held in with tabs. You just need a long screwdriver. Pry where it feels connected.

The blinky DIC means you need to take the gauge panel out. Either the harness is loose, corroded, or you need a new one. To take that out, start with the aforementioned trim panel around the radio and climate control, then the trim panel above the gauges, then the gauge panel. Chances are you need to loosen the light switch. Also the wiring to the gauge panel is likey too short to get a good look at to disconnect. You have to feel around. A little hint, the clips have two tabs that need to be bent out, not pushed in.

Um, what do you mean by "update" the climate control? You have the electronic version already, if it's an SSE, right? What changes do you want to make?

Sounds like the usual oxidized-pins problem. Removal and disassembly of the gauge cluster is covered here: http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/techinfo/?article=56

Let us know how it goes...
