Clear headlights?

Can you elaborate a bit?

I think the lens is completely different, it is made out of a ridged glass.

taking a better look it may just be rigid glass.

The 96 ssei you can see everythign inside the headlights
in mine it really hard i was thinking that there might be a slight filminside

I always thought headlights were clear when you get them. Also...what does this have to do with audio and alarms?? oh well

The '94s and earlier used a smooth reflector behind lensed glass; i.e. the glass did more beam focusing in addition to what the reflector gathered up and bounced forward.

The '96 and up used a focused reflector behind clear (plain) glass; the reflector does all the beam focusing and the glass just keeps the rain out.

Unfortunately I don't think the two different lighting units interchange because the whole nose (and probably the fenders as well) got redesigned for '96, not just the headlamps.

Cool...thanks Andy..makes good sense to me now. There have been some major upgrades in headlamp technology, incorporating clear lenses, reflection and now xenon discharge. New Bonnevilles should have xenon discharge lamps. Since it is a flagship car, it should have come standard on the 2000+
