Default Rattle hunting today--HOUSTON- we have a problem.

So today I got of work early (always good on a Friday) I'm rocking out on the way home, and I'm thinking about my rattles. When I get home, I jump in the back seat with the remote and start Rattle hunting. Pushing and pulling on things to see whats vibrating. It'* almost allways plastic something. I've had a problem with when I turn it REALLY LOUD that certain low bass notes kind POP sometimes, I always though it was serious vibration to something, checking it out today, found some spots in the rear deck and rear pillars which need MORE dynamat, already have one layer on mostly everything on the back of the car, so I know I shouldn't hear this kinda rattling.

I'm watching the cone move in and out and admiring my 23mm excersion and noticed that when I hear this pop the rubber suround is flating out and pausing for a breef moment. Problem is when I turn it up loud enough to hear this popping noise It'* so loud that I can't hear the small amout of rattles I have left, very tough to locate. Back to the flating part, I'm reaching around the sub and noticed that when it'* that loud and my W7 is moving big time, at maxium excersion, the sub is hitting the top of the back seat. The sub is slaming against the back seat! that'* it! Now how to fix, I'm guessing everything had to be re-done, the box needs to be moved back an 1in or so, really just a couple mm. ERRRRR. That means that my floor and side trim panels where my amps and stuff are all have to be re-cut. That floor fits real snug and holds everything really tight.

So I'm going to have a nice little talk with my installer this weekend, Think I'll start it out by saying, "Tiger how'* it going, Well I'm sad to say that YOU have a problem." He'* going to be PO'ed, but too bad, it'* got to be fixed and god damit I'm not paying for it. I do have a 5 year warrenty on equipment and the install, so don't think there'* going to be a problem with that. I also am going to demand for two new 10w7'*. The rubber suround has an indentation on where it'* hitting. Had to use little dentist mirror to see these by the way.

Now, since it has to be re-done, I could change the design some if I want to. Thinking in what I'd like to change and I'm not sure I want to change anything. I like my floor with the raised JL on it, that stays, put I'm thinking maybe I'll have him re-build my side panels and flush mount my amps and crossovers with a stealth panel over it. Not so much to hide them but this would allow me to put more things in my trunk and not worry about things banging into my equipement. It will still look nice I think, maybe have the panels fitted with a raised pontiac arrow on them on each side. Thinking that might be nice, other than that, can't think of anything else to change.

Any Ideas anyone?

I'd be willing to pay a little bit to get my amps flush mounted with a decorative stealth panel. I do have approved credit threw Tweeter too.

Sorry to hear about that. I would demand the same thing. Especially how you kept on having problems with the mirror falling out.

Put the Pontiac symbol right next to your amps & have Pontiac written out on the bottom. Or have the symbol right next to the amps and have JL Audio right under them. To top it all off have it all light up in red neon as well with either one.

Maybe get some plexiglass enclosures for the amps and keep the rest the same. That set up already rocks dude.About your subs,It was his mistake in the installation, does this not mean he has to pay for them?

I'm sure the store will eat the cost. I've refered enough business to pay for all the labor involved and I display some of his business cards at shows.

Plexi could be nice for the amps, 2 problems though, plexi is expensive, and if I do that need to rig up some cooling fans, can't have amps enclosed in tight installs and be sealed in, gotta cool them down somehow. Not a bad Idea, going to see what my installer says/recomends.

Thinking about the triangle on one side and SSEi on the other maybe even BAD SSEI. Too cheesy?

With the install you already have you should take no shorts, plexi enclosure on the amps would put the icing on the cake with your install,on the cooling issue ,ive seen a few install'* where the amp'* where encased in plexi but the sides where open so there was no need for cooling.Oh yeah dont forget some more red neon

Or have all that etched into the plexiglass cover. So that way at night when you flip on the switch itll look like its floating. But I would carry over the design on the box to the amp racks.

You'll have to pay to get a different setup, warranty only covers what was done.

As for Bad SSEI, that'* scott cook....

Plexi amp covers could be nice. Talking some bucks though. I really want them to have a panel overthem, such as stealth panel or something, just want to use my trunk more. Thinking about it though, can't recal the last time something was in there. Everybody knows not to ask me to put anything in there.

Etched plexi and some red neon does sound nice. Haven't had time to see my installer, working 72 hour weeks, I could afford the plexi, just rather get headers and rockers.

In further examination, I think my trunk won't need to be re-sized, there is a plastic panel over the back of the seats that could come off, that'* what it'* hitting, everything will have to come out to get it out though, still going to get two brand new 10w7'* with it. I know I won't get hasseled about it, When I bought everything, they told me to save the boxes incase I never need a replacement. I've got everything stacked in the Garage.

Still though, if it'* all coming out, might as well change it. Does everyone think that I should change my walls. Someone find me a pic please.
