If cheap is really the main criteria, I can tell you that the Sony Explode unit they sell at WalMart for about $78 works great for my truck. It handles many formats, including MPX, WMA, and also has an external input for Ipod. It handles 50W per channel, so decently in your Dad'* range I would believe.

crutchfield is very pricey.. you can find those only i bet 20-40$ cheaper after shipping else where.

They had my Head Unit in my SE for $390...

Sure you can buy it somewhere else, but I bet those places dont give: instructions on how to install, wire harness adaptor, antenna adaptor, and the mounting brackets. All in the price. Not to mention their amazing tech support.

After those things, you would have spent more than the 20 you saved.
