Carputer

Im starting to put toghter a list of things i need and need to know to put a computer in my car hooked up OBD with gps and all the other bells and whistles.

For a base ima use the mobo processor yada yada outta my old sony vaio its 1.5 i figure it plenty to run winamp  .

Few things about touch screens. I know nothing other then there touch senseitive. How do they usually hook up USB or some such? And does the touch sensor act as teh mouse?

Important thing. i have a 94 SSE from what i gather its the OBD 1.5. Is it possible to hook that up to this project so i can catch codes get sensor data and what not? If so what software and where can i get the cable? (Feel free to tell me to use google )

Power: Would i just use an inverter and just do it that way or do they make some special Power supplies? If both what would be easier?

GPS Chip. Ne reccomendations?

FM Chip: Easy to find. Neone have ne reccomendations?

Hard drives: This is something ive been thinging about. I live in massachusetts. Worst roads ever(Or so i say). Im pretty sure if i used a run of the mill HD it would crash on maybe the third pothole. Ne suggestions?

Sound Card: I have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 with 6.1 out im pretty sure i could figure a way to get it to plug into my headunit.

I plan on useing one of those nice newish cube cases people use for lan parties to house all this then mout it maybe on the rear deck or more likely more subtely in the trunk next to my shiny sub amp.

So list of things i have so far:
A working computer.

Things i need:
Smaller case
OBD cable
GPS Chip
Sound Card
Touch Screen Moniter (Bigger the better)
FM Chip

Ne advice stories etc... would be greatly appriciated.
I know there was a trhead on this awhile ago but i lost it and i want to start this one from the early stages.

Of all the things i want to do to my car this is the only one in my realm of expertiece (Spelling isnt one of my strong points though
 )

(P.S. Dun know if i put this in the right place if not mods do what you do best and make things right!!!)

For hard drives, use laptop ones, they are built to take slightly more of a bumb. You can also suspend them if you fab something up, I've seen it done before.
