Buying speakers and stuff
 

For the 1997.
Bose stock system and amp in place. I am going to buy MB Quart 5.25's and MB 6x9's.
YET i want to retain the usage of my stock tweeters, but I would like to run new wires for the four new speakers, the rears will be hooked up to my pioneer 2 channel 240 watt amp, the speakers are power handling rated for 140w.
I want this to sound clear and have good bass, and still use my bose amp for the tweeters that are still in place (OEM).
How can I make this work? I will be hooking up my sony aftermarket deck (one i had on the 1993)
Anyone?

You are going to totally overpower yourself in the rear. You need to hook up that amp to the front and then give the tweets the old signal from the hu and get an amp for the rear, or just no amp in the rear.

I agree, Your sound stage is going to be so far behind you that it's going to sound really bad.

i couldnt agree more. IMO if you care at all about how it sounds, its not worth a dime to buy coaxials over compponents

I want to know your reason for wanting to keep the factory tweets. What would be the point? They aren't that great to begin with, right? You're already dumping the Factory Bose head unit and speakers, why not dump the crappy Bose amp too and go all aftermarket?

MB Quart makes great components, at some point in the past I spec'd out all new MB Quart components for my wife's `01 Grand Prix with the Bose system, and so far I've just left it stock.

I'd say get MB Quart component mid and tweets for the doors and Quart 6x9 coax's for the rear. Either get a 4 channel amp or another 2 channel amp so you can drive all your speakers with similar levels of clean power.

While I am sure the sound could be better. Hook up your head unit first...

Agreed. Also, I'm not sure if your head unit is capable of changing the crossovers and such but if it is, play with that some and you will be amazed at how good the factory speakers can sound.

Well, i got all the MB stuff at 50% off, and a 700 watt 4 channel Infinity amp for 100 dollars off, its all hooked up now, i messed with the settings for about half hour, sounds pretty damned good, and clear as ever, ran new wires too all four speakers, and still managed to utilize my stock tweets.
Tomorrow i have to tuck all the wires in properly and such, i noted a few differences between the 93 and 97. Mounting is different, i know this has been mentioned, however, it slipped my mind. Ugh, that was more than enough wiring for me though, i used solder and electrical tape, so all the connections are true and done properly.
ALSO....
I asked boosty on the phone tonight, but it slipped my mind by 2:45am, the Pacswix, which wires do I need to cut and splice off of the factory harness and connect to on my pacswix..i feel kinda stupid for asking twice..but...meh?
