I'm going to be installing a car amp in my bonneville, I just have a few questions.

1.) What side of the car should I be wiring the wires down? (RCA, Remote turn on)

2.) How do i get the wires from inside the car to the trunk?

3.) When mounting an amp do I just drill straight threw the carpet and the aluminum in the trunk?

I think thats all of my questions.

1. I ran my rca'* down my drivers side, but if you can run them down the middle it will be even better. try not to run them parallel to any 12v wires so you dont get any whining noise when you excelerate.

2. If you remove the back seat, you will see how you can get them through (please keep in mind the last sentence in answer 1.)

3. Never do anything to you car that will leave a permanent hole if you were to ever have to remove your system. I just cut out a sheet of some cheap partical board to the shape of the trunk floor and mounted the amp to it. If you are putting a speaker box in your trunk, you could mount your amp to it.

you dont happen to have a picture of this particle board in your trunk do you? And if I were to do it would it be better to use MDF? Also, how would I fit the whole thing in there? just do one half at a time? Annnd.. How will i access the spare tire?

if you do end up drilling a hole be sure to use a grommet

the only hole that im gonna be drilling is the one for the ground cable. Because I'm going to do what black friday suggested and put wood on the floor of my trunk. Now I just need to know two things.. First, how do i get the whole back seat out? not just the seat.

Why would you need to drill a hole for the ground cable? That cable fits perfectly fine between the rear seat back rest and the floor of the car. The battery is literally 3 feet away, so at most you'd need 5 feet of cable.

Also, I wouldn't mount an amp to a subwoofer box. Maybe it only makes a difference with bigger subs, but I've seen it cause massive problems. Last time, it was a Hifonics 15" 1600W RMS competition SPL sub connected to a Directed 1500W RMS amp, and the amp would cut out under heavy loads. Moved the amp off the sub box, and everything was fine. Hmmm....

The reason for drilling is for the ground cable.. I didn't realize it could be hooked up to the batter I guess

And I'm not sure where you got the idea that I'm going to mount the amp on a sub. I don't even have a sub and im not going to for a while, the amp is going to power a set of comp. speakers. What I'm going to do is cut out plywood that fits my trunk as perfect as I can get it and mount my subs and amps to that plywood, kind of like a new floor on my trunk.

First off, you can mount an amp on a sub box. You just shouldnt do it when you have a high excursion woofer (which I knew wasnt the case with this particular install).If you dont believe me, you can even go to websites like steve meade designs and look at some of his builds. He even has some where he built an amp rack attaching to fosgate amps to one of his boxes. What I did for the wood on the floor was, I took the carpet for the floor out and used it as a template. you dont have to make the wood the entire shape of the carpet. you could just make it a rectangle and not make the parts that flare out behind the wheel wells. then you can cut that board in half (leaving easier access to your spare) and then put them both in and put the carpet over them. Extreme Rev was right. There are alot of body grounds in the area of the back seat. you will see them when you pull the back seat.

Now to removing the back seat. If you scoot both front seats forwards, and straddle the hump in the back, you can grab the bottom of the base of the seat and lift it up. You may need to pull veeerrry hard the first time. After you pull that part, you will see, two brackets attached to the lumbar portion(the back part). They will be held in place by what I beleive are 3/4 bolts. Once you remove them, on the top part (just below the head rest) the will be 2-3 compression latches. You will need to compress them one at a time with a pair of needle nose pliars and pull that portion of the lumbar toward you.
