Default Radio reception problem

This sounds simple enough, but Im not sure whats going on. I was washing our 03 ssei and I rotated the Onstar antenna up away from the back glass to dry the window. When I tried to push it back down it broke off. The threads on the pivoting piece gave way. I ordered a replacement and left the origional piece mounted to the glass and just replaced the piece that pivots and the antenna. Both were identical to the old. Now the radio has hardly any reception, which started when it broke. Replacing the antenna and pivot did not fix it. Any ideas? Thanks!

I believe the radio antenna is built into the windshield, not the onstar antenna.

Bill is right, the Onstar antenna should not have anything to do with your radio reception...I'm not sure I can provide any suggestions except to say there are two antennas in the, one in the front windshield and another in the rear with the defroster lines. Both antennas have amplifiers behind the headliner. It'* possible the connections are loose behind there.

Yeah the radio antenna is in the rear window I know the 04-05 have a booster antenna in the front window.. If you have Metallic tint you will notice poor reception. make sure the connections are firm where it goes into the rear glass.

In my 2002, the radio antennas are inside the front windshield and the rear windshield. The OnStar antenna on the back window has nothing to do with radio reception. Further, these cars have terrible radio reception anyways. If you want good reception, you will have to get a real radio like a Pioneer, or satellite radio. That'* about the only way to get good reception.

Thanks for all the replies. I thought maybee the Onstar ant. was only for the Onstar, but the radio worked fine until the day that happened. Thats why I wasn't sure.
