Is it possible to swap the HU from the 05 SE into the 00 SSEi or can I buy a Bose HU with an Aux button and swap it with the HU I have now that has the CD/Cassette and no Aux button and have it work without any re-wiring? I am trying to find the easiest and simplest solution to get an Aux input! Thanks for any input!

yes it will work....you will need to someway to program the new headunit so it matches the VIN of the car

I don't know that this will work very well for you. The SE head unit has amplified outputs that drive speakers directly. This may cause several problems such as difficulties controlling volume, distortion and impedance mismatch between the O/P of the HU and the input of the Bose amp.

I've never actually tried this myself, but I'm sceptical about good results. There is also the VIN issue that 1993 SLE mentioned, but that is easily corrected with a Tech 2 (visit to the dealer).

It is my understanding that the head units for 2000, 2001 and 2002 are different than the head units for 2003 and later. I was looking into doing something similar and the vendors I contacted informed me of the above.

I now have a 2001 Bose head unit that I will be installing in my '01 SE. I have found upon physical inspection (and later confirmed through correspondence with ddalder) that the wire harnesses use different pin outs of various connectors. So if you want to use a non-amplified OEM head unit and add your own amps, there are things to watch out for.

If you want an "aux" input you do not need an "aux" button on the radio. Your factory radio will operate a CD changer and that can be used as an "aux" channel. Why do you need an "aux" input?

I am working on installing an iPod to be operated as though it were a CD changer with the steering wheel buttons and the HU buttons. I will be doing the final installation either this weekend or next and will post the entire process (including the wiring changes for the added amplifier).

What is needed to install the DVD player you show? It appears to be self contained. Do you want the audio to play through the car stereo while the DVD is playing? What audio outputs are available on the player?

Does the XM radio have RCA outputs? I am not familiar with these, do they mount into the dash like the radio or do they mount elsewhere and have some kind of remote control.

There are a couple options I know of. You can do what I'm doing and install a PAC iPAC-OEM to control your iPod through your CD Changer access with the buttons on the head unit and steering wheel.

I believe the audio out is your basic RCA connections as found on the back of most home units. What I am really looking for right now is a physical mount to mount it in the car not to replace the Bose! That is why I was asking about fabrication.
