first off i cant decide which company to go with, for now im leaning toward XM simply because i like the looks and feautres of their low end receivers so much better.

Also im curious about quality, i know wiring it direct would provide the best quality, but thats not really an option for me, as i dont want to buy a new HU and i dont have an AUX on my stocker.

From what ive read the cassette adapter would be the next best option, but do ALL of XM'* receivers come with a line-out so i can use one?

I like the thought of wireless FM modulation...but ive heard the quality is so-so....any thoughts/experiences?

I was playing some songs on my MP3 player using my cassette adapter and i really enjoyed the sound....the mp3 acted as somewhat of a pre-amp....so songs that normally sounded great using a cd sounded even better.

I'm happy with XM.
The sound quality isn't the greatest with the modulator but,the 7 band eq in the stocker makes a difference in mine

I have the XM Roady 2 in my truck, and I get damned near CD quality sound out of it. Which I figure is really nice because the CD player in my truck is a POS and it'* wireless FM modulation.

You can't really go wrong with it there.....Plus with the roady 2, you can swap it between vehicles. Which I like a lot.

well swapping between vehicles wouldnt be a big need for me, id be the only one in my family with the desire to use it, and typically im the driver when i go out with my friends.

I would like to have something i could use in my home as well though, which it seems almost all of them have a home kit available.

I plan to take the money i get when i sell my books back at the end of the semester and get some sort of receiver...id like to get something cheap, that still looks good and works good as well.

It also seems that they all come with a line out option, its just never mentioned in the features, but people mention it in reviews and in the hands on stuff on Crutchfield

I think now I could get a battery pack for it now or something so I could also use it as a walkman.....

I haven't looked into the accessories to much.

i just hate the thought of having wires running all over the place inside my car, ill try and make the cleanest install i can, but even then youll still see something somewhere.

Id really like to get a HU that was satellite radio ready...but the cheapest of them is about 100 bucks, and they arent really all that powerful.

I put a HU in my car when i first got it, it was a 200w Jensen...and the stock HU completely blew it away, so i took it back out, im afraid thats exactly what would happen if i bought a low-end HU, because ive heard so many good things about the late model GM stereos, which is why i still have mine in.

So im faced with the decision to spend more money, and end up with sound quality in the end most likely....or less money,with a few wires....so far im thinking the latter...but still

Even being portable......The wires can still be hidden rather well.

Not saying the set up I have is God'* gift to mankind or anything, but it'* about the cheapest around I'm sure....I've never had any issuses with mine.

I have the Roady2 as well... I installed it in my truck before I bought my Bonneville. If you do it right you can hide all the wires so it looks professionally done. The FM modulation in my truck worked great.

My biggest problem is figuring out how to hard wire it so I can have my cig lighter back :?
