GAMEOVER 01-23-2005 07:45 AM

mine was Cueball

what kind of radio do you have

Lowrider0308 01-23-2005 09:20 AM

i have a Midland 77-116. It is a 4 Watt, 40 channel radio. It also has 3 VHF NOAA channels. It is a pretty good radio. It was an expensive unit when my Gramdpa bought them. He had them in both of his cars. When he died, I hooked one up in my room, because i had always been fascinated by them from when i was a kid.

GAMEOVER 01-24-2005 08:22 AM

i had a president HR2510 with Uppers and Lowers extra freq's 20 watt dead key and swinging about 60 watts hooked up to a 500 watts kicker
i could talk any where when skip was rolling in

Drifter420 01-24-2005 08:41 PM

LMAO !!! I can't run CB and scanners in my car.. it would over power and kill the input stage of my scanner even with Attenuator on. So it sits at my parents place collecting dust cause I don't use it when I get home.. good ol Internet chat for me then. :D

:offtopic:
My buddy has so much scanners and antenna on his van that its called porcupine

Man, that craze was nearly 30 years ago... I had a Royce base station my uncle gave me for my birthday. He didn't supply an antenna, but I built one by rinning loops of heavy wire around the windows of the back porch next to my bedroom. When I was on the air, the neighbors all called to complain that they couldn't hear anything on their TV's except whatever I was broadcasting. Once, I left the mic Keyed on next to a radio to test the reception of a walkie talkie, and before I got home, the FCC was at my house telling my dad they were going to confiscate the radio...

Anyhow, my handle was "Conjuror"

that funny right there

iRocco 02-03-2005 12:38 AM

Dear old dad didn't think so. Smacked me for chuckling though. What made me laugh was that they had triangulated the location, but couldn't figure out which house it was right away because there was no antenna on the roof.

I was thinking about getting a CB there for a bit but then started to fade away. Still is in the back of my head. Maybe might put one in some day.

Umm, quick question, do they make something other than the 6 foot antennas for cb's?!

yes indeed... 6ft whips or 12-16in cell phone antenna type antennas...

i had small one on my lumina with a good cb, and i could only get a mile of coverage...

still fun to mess with, as long there are other ppl on ;)

i did it when everyone else in high school in the phase...

The selections aren't as numerous as they were when the things were really popular. But you could probably find something. The thing about them is they need a big antenna to get good range and reception. They transmit on the AM band which is pretty noisy. The other drawback is the channels seem crowded with non-english speaking cabbies for the most part. At least in Chicago.

I used to have 2 8 ft whips on my p/u until I broke'em off....had a 7-8 mile range

RocketFast321 02-03-2005 06:35 PM

The longer the better :D The one on my car is 3' 9"

egladman 02-06-2005 01:29 AM

don't they make a cb antenna that plugs into your regular car antenna or something like that. Seems like I seen one of those in JC Whitney catalog or something.
