Another junk yard treasure!!!!

Was at a yard today seeing what was available for good used tires (I hate wasting new tires on winter driving), :( but only found one tire so I still have to get another in the morning.
Anyhow, at one yard that I know sells radios cheap I asked if they had a factory CD Changer. Woo-Hoo!! They had one out of a 99 STS with mounting bracket and cartridge for $75!!!!!!
So now I just need a cable (brother sells these so I'll get one for cheap) and a Monsoon CD deck since a standard AM/FM/CD/7EQ deck can't control CD changers, but the Monsoon CD decks can.

The Monsoon CD deck can? i was under the impression that the CD decks could only control the remote tape plater and the Cassettes could only control the CD players. Let me know if you need a 7-band Cassette. I got a couple.

I'm looking for Monsoon deck because I don't have/want and tapes. I want to retain the in-dash CD for when I want to pop the CD in right then without having to stop the car, get out, open the changer, and decide which CD I want to be replaced.
Basicly, I'd keep my 12 favorite CD's in the changer and I could flip any others into the CD deck.

Monsoon decks from the 00+ can if the car had the option of the 12disk CD player.

Man, you guys find the nicest stuff at parts yards.
Nice work, I would love a cd changer myself.

But will the 2000+ monsoon head fit into pre-2000 cars?

After looking around, I found some more information on it:

So you can use a 99+ Monsoon unit and it should work.

Nice find there. My brother has tested the Monsoon CD decks with the GM 6 and 12 disc changers and found the Monsoon Decks compatible with Delco Changers. He said he was never aware of the 'Any 1999+ build date' being capable and he never tried it since he assumed it was a Monsoon only feature -which makes him believe that the Monsoon decks only difference from a stock deck was the Monsoon logo above the display.

He checked his stock and at the moment he doesn't have any 99+ GM decks, but he's getting 15 radios in this week so he'll test any with the newer build dates.
I'll let you all know how this turns out.

BTW, the AM/FM/CD/7-band EQ deck I have in my car right now I bought two weeks ago out of a 97 Trans Am at a yard -for dirt cheap.
