Default Stock stereo bass drops

2000 SSEI Stock Radio
Anyone know why the bass is deep when volume is low but when I turn it up it seems to go away. I added an amp and bandpass box last light. I tied the converter into the rear speakers for the rca'*. The bass is nice and deep again at low level but once I turn it up it goes away too.
Not sure if mine is an amplified system(don't see an amp anywhere). If it is I shouldn't have tied it there but the head unit has that damn ribbon connector.

Anyone, please help. Need to feel my new sirius satellite.

It'* supposed to do that. It lowers distortion as the volume increases, and I don't think there is any way to disable the function.

in my buick the stock radio had a certain volume level where the bass stayed stong but if i turned it up alittle more then it would pretty much get rid all the bass. So now i got an alpine headunit and it works great.

I figured it was a safety feature but was praying I was wrong. Thanks, sounds like I wasted my time unless I plan to change my deck and I don't.

If the Attenuator is in the amp, you could just replace the stocker for an aftermarket one. Just run your speaker wires to the high input connection on the amp, or by an RCA Interface.
