Their decks are good....I don't know much about their components though....I think the best components I've heard was boston accoustics.

itsnitro 02-08-2005 11:28 PM

alrite thanks guys!!! ill look into it more now!

swerve 02-08-2005 11:51 PM

If you want afordable check out Adire Shiva's....

i know alot of people just wanting a little kick are happy with the IMPP's... if your not doing this to impress people then it should be all personal pref.

You probably already dropped the cash, but you know how the $.02 game goes...

Best advice here. Simply put, companies make different levels of equipment for different levels of user. Most brands do. Example: The fact that a Lexus SC430 is a seriously sweet car (my mother just bought one) does not necessarily make the Scion tC a complete joke - both have the Toyota name behind them. But there is a $45,000 price differential. It's the same with audio equipment.

Seriously though, two subs for $100 is hard to beat, it's an Alpine product, and you get customer service through Crutchfield. Focus some energy on putting those Type-E's in a proper enclosure, feed them right, and they will do you well for everyday music. There is nothing wrong with the Pioneer either but if it were my car I'd choose Alpine. Of course, that's my personal preference because I've owned Alpine and I liked it very much. If you liked your Pioneers, what's to stop you from a repeat purchase? Good luck... let us know how it turns out for ya!

Are you sure you NEED 1000Watts? That's a lot of juice.

Post the specs of the subs you bought, how you listen to your music, and what your space constraints are for the box they are going in. Then, matching up an amp becomes easier than just pulling a rabbit out of the proverbial hat of 1000Watt amps.

itsnitro 02-09-2005 11:40 AM

Havent bought them yet. but here are the specs for speaker:
Kevlar®-treated pulp cone
3/4" Santoprene rubber surround

power range 50-200 watts RMS
peak power handling 600 watts
sensitivity 89 dB
top-mount depth 6-3/16"
sealed box volume: 0.8-1.7 cubic feet
ported box volume: 1.25-2.0
1-year warranty

here are the specs for a box i may buy, crutchfield also recommended this box:

height: 16"
bottom depth: 19-3/8"
top depth: 14"
1-year warranty

how about even an 800watt 2 channel?? 400 to each?

Go with JL Audio and you won't be upgrading in 3 months. Get a 10-12 w3v2 and send it 300-400w RMS and it will blow those E's out of the water. Just my .02 Thomas

itsnitro 02-10-2005 09:23 AM

what if i got the KAPPA's, would 1000watts to each speaker be 2 much?!? or should i just get a 1000watt??

1994se 02-10-2005 10:12 AM

you'll blow them if you put a 1000w amp on each speaker. Their recommended power is 400w RMS max for each. Ttechnically a 1000w amp on two is already overpowering them.

1994se 02-10-2005 10:14 AM

oops

itsnitro 02-10-2005 10:25 AM

ok, see i always use to think to go by the peak power, im surprised i never blew my other 15's. the were peaked at 700watts. RMS was 350, and i had 600watts to each speaker! maybe they were blown...dunno sold that that system....im still thinkin on what to get! thanks for all the help you guys!

1993 SLE 02-10-2005 11:16 AM

ALWAYS go by the RMS figure....it is best to underpower a speaker than to over power it

itsnitro 02-10-2005 01:40 PM

that is true Kris, it was a Kenwood dont member the model... but max was 600watts. owell.....

itsnitro 02-10-2005 02:23 PM

ok, it was probably roun 400watt RMS, i bridged them. i just something for bass! nuthin huge!

BonneMeMN 02-10-2005 02:43 PM

IMO a little overpowering is better then underpowering. If you run a 400W RMS amp on a 350W or so RMS sub, you're better off then say a 200-300W RMS amp. If you run a lower amp, then when you really turn up the volume you'll send your amp Clipping, which is what kills most drivers, not over powering them. Don't go too overboard, but an extra 10-25% is a good overhead.

Most drivers will take some extra watts, but clipping is bad news for ANY speaker.

Note... i'm not suggesting a 1200.1 JBL on a Dual from BB...

BonneMeMN 02-10-2005 02:51 PM

Ratings will be undercut on both sides, sub and amp, at comparable quality levels. Most speaker underratings aren't by much either. 90% of the time people aren't using their RMS level even.

Orions are severely under rated because of competition in the 90's. They would just call it a 200 watt amp so it could be in lower classes. 1 watt = 1 watt no matter what amplifier it comes out of....
