Default DAMN!!!

Hey All! I want to change out my radio on my 92 SSE. I have those nifty buttons on my stering wheel and I wish to keep them working. As sad as it maybe it was actually one of the selling points of my car. Any suggestions on an up grade that I can put a cd player in that will still work with those. Thanks!

Harly you'll need to get a head unit that has a remote control. But first you need to get an adapter that allow you to use your steering wheel controls with a aftermarket headunit. They run about $50 if I remember....then you'll need to check out the adapter to see what brands it is compatible with.

Once you know what brands the adapter works with, you can buy your aftermarket head unit....

Wasn't there also an issue with the factory stereo on '92 and '93 models providing the power for the electronic climate-control display?

Good question. I seem to remember that was an issue with the using the newer radios with the older cars....but he better find out for sure before doing anything

Hopefully someone will chime in here with more info....

Actually I shouldn't have been so vague: Assuming your '92 wiring is the same as the '93, your electronic (vacuum fluorescent) climate-control display _is_ driven by a power output from the stereo. Suggest you doublecheck this for yourself by simply unplugging the wiring harness from the back of the stereo, then turn on the car and see what else is dead.

because I can't set my out side temp.
I wish you _could_ set the outside temperature; it'* getting pretty d*mn chilly here in Chicago...
