External amp? Dashboard?
Hello,
I just bought a 1997 SSEi and am new to its workings still. It has the factory Bose stuff in it. I am planning on replacing the factory CD player with my Pioneer from my last car. I am going to use one of those steering wheel control adapters; and plan to eventually replace all the speakers. Right now I am just wondering if this Bose thing has an external amp somewhere that I need to worry about. Also, how does the dash come apart? I still need to locate a repair manual in this little town...probably going to have to order one though.

I can't help you with the Bose amplifier question, as I don't know that system too well. I can tell you that the dash piece isn't too hard to take off. It is all one piece. Start with a screwdriver covered in electrical tape (to prevent scratches) and CAREFULLY pry the panel that surrounds the radio, climate control, etc.) out. Go section by section until you have the whole thing loose. Then lower your steering column to ease in removing the piece. As I said its one big piece which extends to the left side of the steering wheel.

You can find a little info on how to pull off the front trim here: http://www.users.csbsju.edu/~pmalbrec/subinstall.html
