AFtermarket HU connection to stock wiring
K.. Just bought an adapter for use with Bonneville to an aftermarket HU... well sure enough after I open it.. it says Bose system requires a different connector  . So, does anyone know if WalMart has one for Bose? I want to stay away from specialty audio store cause they will charge an arm and leg more then wat it's worth. Anyone have ideas?
P.S. I also wanted to bypass the stock Bose amplifier, so wondering if that connector from the bose stock amp be compatible with the straight GM HU connector. Sorry couldn't pull out the connector to check myself as I just got out of the hospital and can't crawl underneath to pull out to confirm.  |
my recommendation:
rewire all 4 speakers, a lot more satisfying and trouble free...thats what my audio shop recommended to me when i asked them about bonnevilles |
You mean complete re-wiring from speakers to HU? Or just took the wires off the bose amp? If so.. are they color coded the same? Did you use a connector from your head unit to an adapter or did you hard wire it to the connector from the HU?
|
Yeh I did this... What I recomend is to remove the bose amp and match the RF RR LF LR wires coming from the HU to the post amp wires... Did this works good. Good Luck

then you can run 12 gauge to all speakers  |

so is the wires coming from the bose AMP color coded the same as the adapter?
i.e. ( green/black= left rear (neg.) green= left rear (pos) ) if not... what is it? But the problem I have is that I know I will have to use the adapter from the aftermarket HU but do I need the GM adapter? ( cause the one I bought isn't wired up the same as the BOSE.. it tells me I need another adapter.. so should I return that adapter back to Walmart? and hard wire it to the speaker wires that from after the bose amp? ) EDIT |
Yeah just chop the stock plug with enough wire left just incase you want to install stock again then match the wires up as specified in a service manual then when you get to the amp match the names RF from HU spliced with the RF from plug on the bose amp.... you can totlaly remove that thing.

Haven't taken a close look at it.. but isnt' there one plug that goes into the amp.. and one comes out to the speaker ( connector? )
Anyone have service manual for a 97 that can let me know? Guess I will have to PM around  |
yeah thats what Im talking about. bypass the amp and splice those together,
