Default pioneer FM modulated CD changers...

k so in June i bought one, installed it used it for a few days and got sick and freakin tired of when ever i turned it up it sounded like a fading radio station..so i brought it back....anyways im just curious are these Cd changers known for doing this it was 265 bucks VERY easy to install, and i was very disapointed with the preformance...A guy i know had one in his 93 SSE for 7 years he bought it in 95 installed it and i remember it sounding excellent until he sold the car in 2000.

I've installed two of them in Bonnevilles with varying results - good to excellent.

Need to know more precisely the problem.

at low volumes it sounded excellent, once the stereo was reaching the half way mark and above it sounded very staticy especially when the bass would hit, sounded like a FM radio reciving a poor signal.

Do your radio stations sound like that at the same volume level?

Does your FM modulator have an adjustable gain control on it? It may need to be adjusted up or down. If it'* too high, certain loud passages on CDs will sound distorted at any volume. If it'* too low, then you will have to turn the volume up on the radio to levels that may become distorted by the radio.

Along the same lines, does your modulator have a selectable frequency? The actual frequency you're using may have something riding it already. Mine came with a switch to select 89.1 or 99.1 Something like that. I picked the cleaner of the two.

Take a peek in the owner'* manual for a gain or boost control on the RF modulator or the CD player itself.

hehe if i still owned it, i brought it back, now have a deck with a Cd player in it, the factory deck would get loud like past half stay loud then start to cut out...meaning the vol was loud it would quiet down then get loud again, turning up made no diffrence, then sometimes it wouldnt go as loud as it normally would.
