Adding aftermarket amp and sub to Bose
 

Good morning,

I have a 2010 Chevy Malibu LTZ that came with the premium Bose sound system and would like to add an aftermarket amp and subs to the trunk. No I have the subs and the amp ready to go but I am not sure where/how to hook up the line out converter. There are a ton of wires and I am unsure as to where they need to be spliced into. The big one is the "remote turn on", as I don't want to take out the factory head unit if I do not have to.

I have read that it would be best to tap into the factory installed amp wiring before it reaches the amp so that my aftermarket amp is getting a full signal, but I do not know where in my car to find these wires. If someone could walk me through so I can do this tonight that would be wonderful.

Audio input to the Bose amp is speaker level input, not line level. If your amp is going to be mounted in the trunk with the speakers, then you would be best to get a speaker level to line level converter and tap directly into the rear deck speakers for your sub inputs. (on a side note, if you tap into the signal between the HU and Bose amp, you will degrade the original signal)

With what you recommend would I need both the loc that I already purchased and the llc? Also, where would be the best place to hook up my aux on/off wire? I would prefer not to have to take the HU out of the console if I can stay away from it.

The aux wire can be connected to any switched power source. Basically, find a fuse that turns on when you turn the key on.

Yes that LOC is what I have, the way I read your message I thought that you were saying an LOC would be a bad idea. I am going to try this all tonight and see how it goes. I am not looking for something to flex my windshield or anything, but something I can feel in the front seat. Thank you for your help.
