Hey everyone, I drive a 1996 Bonneville SE. Everything in it is stock except for engine and battery. I have noticed my stock speakers beginning to die, and have always wanted a decent audio system. Could anyone help me by telling me something my bonneville could support? Thanks!

car audio is a very broad and endless realm. There are literally hundreds of brands and thousands of ways to approach designing your system. My best advice to you is to go about it in this manner. 1. Create a budget- 6.5" component speakers range anywhere from $20-$8,000+. The extent of your enthusiasm will be what helps you determine where you will fall in this price range. This leads me to my second point. 2. Determine what you are looking for in a system- there are 4 kinds of car audio listeners bass heads, sound quality, simplests, and those that are absolutely content with their factory systems (these people usually own gxp'* lol!). 3. Get out and listen to some audio- there is no better way to figure out what brands you like best than to go out and play with some radios and listen to some speakers but keep in mind the great looking display you saw on that radio in the store may not look as great iin your car when the sun light hits it, and the speakers in the sound boards are pointed at you and not side to side like in your car. 4. Tallk to installers not salesmen- salesmen are doing just that... Now an installer on the other hand knows his products form as well as function. They are absolutely honest about the quality of the products they install and that is who you want to hear from. 5. Get online and look up some product reviews. The internet is soooo valuable for this one becase you can see what others think about products you are interested in. 6. Know and accept your limitations- I have high end audio equipment in my car. I have a thread in this section about a custom build I'm doin and I'm already redoing everything before I even get done. However, I can do this because I own my own business and get products at dealers cost. If you are not in the position to utilize the same resources, oh well.
