Default 03 monte factory amp specs?

Any one know how much power the factory amp on a 03 monte ls would be? ive got the front and rear deck speakers powered by it and want to know what kind of gain I might get by adding a second amp for those speakers

its neither, it doesnt have any markings on it, so delphi maybe? i have polk db'* which are 60rms max if its less than 20, there might be some gain from a larger amp.

60rms max? Thats kinda contradictory. RMS and MAX r two differant rating, RMS (Root Mean Square) is the consistant power, where max is self explanitory, max power at bursts

The easiest way..

Pull out the Factory Headunit
Pull out the Factory Speakers
Toss the Factory Amp, in the Trash

Replace Head Unit ( Double Din ) FTW !! 20 mins
Rewire Car 2 hours
Replace Stock Speakers With New Components FTW!! 1 hour
Wire Amp and 12 Volt Wire And a couple sets of RCA'* 30 Mins
Add a 5.1 Amp to power Speakers 45 Mins
Add a small 12 inch Sub and Enclosure 20 mins

Tune Amp PITA but worth it !!

Jump in and go for a ride !!

I dont wanna hear it takes less time LOL.... I tape all my wires Run power down one side and RCA'* down the other !!

ive got a clarion pro 845mc, polk db'*, 2 kicker comp 10'* and a pioneer sub amp. ive got the DB'* powered by the factory amp. i just wanted to know if replacing the factory amp for the polk'* with like a 50-60w rms 4-channel amp would be worth the money and effort. i figured if it was 30-40w rms it probably isnt worth the effort.

O yea itll be worth it. The factory amp is very limiting. It does what it wants to do, and wont take your feedback. Have u noticed that when u turn up the volume, it automatically cuts the bass, which isnt nessarilly a bad feature for the average listener, u gotta think, these factory amps only cost about $5 to produce, the quality is poop. There hasnt been one good sounding GM factory stereo yet. Ford got close with its Mach audio system in there SUV'* (with the built in sub) but that still will not compare to a aftermarket unit. U will get adjustability, and cleaner power from an aftermarket unit. U need both of those things for any level of SQ.

the factory stereo was actually pretty good, for factory. compared to the 8spk bose system in my wifes sse it was way louder and has better bass.

as far as the factory amp i think your right, something is distorting at a lower volume than i think it should be.
