Finally! Getting a beloved DD 2512!
Man, i've had a boner for Digital Designs subs for some time now but they're a bit more expensive than I've been willing to pay. The one I like alot is the 2500 series 12", aka 2512.
These subs aren't sold online, you can only get them via local dealer or if you don't have one in your area then you can get them direct from DD too. The problem with a dealer is that the price can vary alot because the dealers sells them for whatever they want so if you live in an area where your local dealer sells them for $400ea then you're stuck, even though DD sells them direct for $330ea (or less if your negotiating skills are up to par) but if there'* a local dealer active in your area then DD won't sell direct.
So anyways, I found one BNIB and the guy only wanted $225+ shipping...I talked him down to $200 shipped I can't wait, gonna build a small ported box for it and gonna wire it down to 1 ohm on my SAZ-1500D so it should be getting twice the rated rms at 1500 watts! This is gonna be a downsize for me since I currently have 2 Sundown 12'* on the same power but I'm excited to finally own a 2512 and look forward to seeing what it can do.

So what'* so special about these subs? I'll admit I don't know a whole lot about them, but it seems a bit excessive to need 8 gauge wiring for a 750W sub.

DD'* subs are horribly underrated. A member of an audio forum I frequent was running a 3518 (which is their 1kw motor) with a SAZ-3000d (or 2? I forget) and it laughed at it.

Thats not 8 gauge wire but these subs are nice! The guy that repairs my amps has 4 or these in his vehicle. I wish we lived closer together so I could hear this sub and u could hear my 15" Fi on 2300 rms

It'* actually 10ga., but yeah I hear you. These subs are beastly, can't wait to get it in a box and making noise.
Digital Designs makes one hell of a subwoofer. They're all hand-made, overengineered, underrated, designed and manufactured by Digital Designs themselves here in the U.*.A.
Their subs are known for impressive SPL but they are surprisingly musical subs and have equally impressive SQ. Because of their overengineering and incredible build quality they are able to handle alot more than rated power. I know of people who are giving their 2512'* 2000rms in their daily setups I'm going to give mine 1500rms. This sub will have no problem taking that kind of power so long as the box is right and the power is clean and unclipped. There aren't many subs out there that can be given double rms and beg for more
Yep. They're beasts indeed. Last year when I was deciding what setup I wanted to go with, the 2512'* were top of my list but I just couldn't bring myself to pay $330ea so I ended up getting my Sundown SA-12'* for what I would have paid for just one 2512. I've been very happy with my choice too, my Sundowns bang nicely, but since I wanted these 2512'* so bad and this deal came up it was too good to pass up. I'm not expecting the overall output to be more than my dual 12 setup but If it'* close I'll be happy cause I'll be gaining some more real estate in my trunk since my current box is 3 cubes and the box for the DD will be 1.75 cubes.
You still have that 4ga. wire on this new amp?

no my stuff is in my buddies Trailblazer until i got the new wiring, big 3 and new alt.
I hear u about not many subs can handle double their rms rating. Mine is getting 2300w rms all day long and is completely content with it. But i took the time to tune. Nothing like hand built, Made is America ingenuity.
